Post legitimately good reasons why you still use Microsoft Windows, especially as your primary operating system of choice.
Explain yourselves, right now, Windows Cucks.

it just works. it has good software (photoshop, vegas, visual studio, etc.). it also has all the good pc games. most hardware has drivers for windows.
I don't. I use FreeBSD :)
Say he wasn't crazy and was in university. Would this guy be of research calibre? Would he be able to publish papers in the OS field? Would he be a top student? Is he objectively better than most computer science peeps?
If he wasn't schizophrenic, he'd still probably have the autism that he must surely have to have been able to make his own operating system from scratch. So when you ask if he wasn't crazy, if he was completely normal, he probably wouldn't be able to achieve anything without his autism, so no. But with his autism, he's definitely a genius. Not household-name-tier genius, but Richard Stallman-tier, easily.
>>59453310
Some people are too smart for their own good. Terry is one of those. After having been a deeply atheistic person, he turned to Christ!
>>59453477
>Richard Stallman-tier, easily.
Richard Stallman isn't a genius.
Why do all modern high end PCs all look like this now?
It's comical how generic they've become.
-Shitty case that looked outdated the day it came out
-cable sleeving for no fucking reason other than reddit
-water cooling loops designed around right angles
-RGB everywhere
What happened to the custom PC sector?
What do you want to see?
Because all I see is a bunch of bitching and crying from some cry baby autist.
>>59453269
Is this right angle thing a meme?
Are people actually implying that the slightly extra amount (possibly) of energy required from your pump to push fluid around a right angle in a closed loop has an effect on cooling?
>>59453359
Actual technology and quality. Not some guy's paracord wire job.
>>59453368
A right angle in plumbing is not slight. One single right angle may not be a problem. Most of these PCs have 8 or more right angles in their loop. That's a huge increase of resistance.
It's an aesthetic at the cost of performance. This largely do to ignorance of how water resistance is increased in a loop.

GIMP or Krita?
Are there better alternatives?
all i know is gimp for macOS is shit and is about to be dropped. i'll probably try krita.
>>59440796
krita is pretty good
>>59440796
>Are there better alternatives?
Adobe Photoshop CC, hell, even the free CS2 version is better than those two.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experienceâ„¢
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Does the W520 have any motherboard improvements other than the 4 DIMM slots ? Is it generally a good pick over a T520 or an ultra cheap T420 ?
I can only find it at a heavy (40-60% more expensive) premium compared to the T520 in Europe.
>The x220/x230 don't have a secondary drive bay but HP's equivalents do
>The x220/x230 don't have socketted CPUs but HP's equivalents do
Why isn't the EliteBook 2570p recommended more for the 12.5" class? Often it's even cheaper than them if you're amerifat

Anyone else here think Zen will be an amazing long term investment?
I honestly thing that after some optimizations, Ryzen chips will be the new Sandy Bridge, where even in 2020 they'll be great, while Intel chips will be struggling just like Nvidia's Kepler.
No, maybe the next iteration in two years will be better, but ryzen didn't have what it takes... I hate that fact, but that's how things are
Unfortunately not. What Ryzen is to AMD is like what Nehalem was to Intel.
Not to say Nehalem was bad, but there where some issues that needed to be ironed out. (Unironically the memory issues)
Then Sandy Bridge came along. I expect Ryzen 2 so be what Sandy Bridge was to Intel.

>>59407310
Cuz 730s are slower than modern intel IGPs, just a fucking waste of power, doesn't even have HEVC 4K support.
>>59407310
I don't, for 55 bucks was a pretty good deal, could play in 720p comfortably 90% of modern games until I got something better, still have it as a backup.
>>59408380
You are right, but if you have an older processor that still holds well (like a Sandy Bridge) it will wipe the floor with the IGP, it is day and night.
If you have a modern Intel processor it is a waste of power, there are plenty of idiots that don't know what they are buying.
