UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd called messaging services offering end to end encryption "totally unacceptable" and "a place for terrorists to communicate".
German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) contacted more than 100 developers of XMPP clients (many of whom don't even run XMPP servers and/or aren't German) requesting them to register with German authorities because they consider XMPP "telecommunication services" that need to be regulated.
Because of muh terrorists and muh nothing to hide, it will soon be "totally unacceptable" to have face-to-face conversations without wearing a government wiretap. Fuck this shit.

To the anon who suggested using nomacs:
Fuck this program. At first it seems good, but it hamfists a shitton of unnecessary things into the flow of actually viewing images with no immediate way to disable them in the settings. And when I try to access hotkeys, this happens.
Fantastic program. Really. I might consider going on GitHub and reporting bugs / attempting to PR some bugfixes.
Oh, another bug that's almost kind of useful: if you hit escape while the "frameless" image is loading, you get rid of the like, 40% translucent black background before it loads in. Which it then looks like borderless MPV. Which, you know, is really nice, but not an actual setting in the application.
Anyways, let's talk about image viewing software compatible between both Linux and Windows. MacOS need not apply, but can... though I don't know why they'd need to with all their beefy image shit

Some piece of shit posted this link on /biz/, and I clicked on it thinking it was some news story. It redirected to what looked like a blank 404 page.
Checked the site through "site checkers" and it's never been searched before, domain purchases a month ago.
I know the uncomfortable answer is just to reformat, but can anyone confirm as to whether or not this was a phishing attempt and that I'm compromised, or if it was just a harmless/useless link to troll?

Hey guys, I was given a couple junker laptops and an Athlon desktop.
One laptop laughably has full size desktop components in it...1GB of DDR and a P4 2.66.
The other is a Pentium M 1.8 with 1GB.
Athlon I haven't looked at yet.
Any ideas what I should do with these or into the trash do they go?
