Literally the dumbest thing Microshit has ever made -- and they've made plenty of dumb shit.

They tried this in the early 2000's and failed miserably.

Nigga what? It's literally the best Windows laptop on the market in the last five years at least. It can be improved and the hinge is retarded, with the battery in tablet mode is a complete joke but it's still a great product and will only improve with more efficient CPUs.

Just ignore the tablet gimmick and view it as a laptop mainly.

Look at that hinge, nigger. It won't last 6 months. Also undocked it's under 2 hours of use.

You wintoddlers are delusional and must be gassed.
>>
>>59725496
I'd say they're doing pretty well for themselves if the dumbest shit they've ever done is the best Windows laptop on the market. The Surface Book 2 will most likely have a regular 360 hinge anyways.

Zenfone is terrible. The build quality and sheer amount of bloatware made me sell mine soon after purchasing it based on bad /g/ advice.

From what I read on the zenfone2 subreddit, it is common for the thing to just totally die after being plugged into a PC. Asus has poor customer service for RMAs as well, according to these reports.

If its any consolation, the guy I sold it to says that he really likes it. He had to get me to sign a form saying i sold it to him and needed the receipt because the IMEI got blacklisted somehow. He seems like a pleb who has never experienced stock Android.

Is LFS the best method to make a linux distro for someone who has little experience outside of just regular usage of different distros?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>59725361
No. If your goal is to make a distro you should first start buy learning how to host your own software repositories compatible with your package manager of choice. Then once you have that figured out, learn how to modify the installation media of an existing distro to utilize your own software repository. That's really all there is to it. From there you can start customizing the default software downloaded by the installer (if you choose to have an installer).

That being said, LFS is not a bad idea if you want to get your hands dirty. But if you are asking this question to begin with, my instinct is to tell you to start with Arch Linux since it's a lot easier to get up and running, but still requires you to at least understand on a basic level what some of the fundamental parts of the OS consist of and how they can be configured.
>>
>>59725470
this

First make sure you can handle something like Arch, that isn't hard or anything but requires you to directly manage the system. Then move on to gentoo, then once you understand that you can move on to gentoo
>>
>>59725470
I use Arch regularly. I just wanted a better understanding of linux as a whole, as opposed to just following a flow chart to install it. I don't intent to use the distro really, I just want the experience.

>Buy the 7600k goy
>exact same as the 7700k but $100 cheaper. EXACT
>what is hyperthreading and simutanious multi-threading, even?
>you don't need any of that. 4 simple cores. don't consider Ryzen, either
>you can just overclock the 7600k and it'll be better than the locked, stock 7700 can ever be!
>yes yes, pay $150 for that motherboard and $150 for that cooler, it'll definitely be better than a 4c/8t then.
>you can just upgrade to a 7700k later when games REALLY use hyperthreaded, because I swear most games don't now. no no, it won't cost $400 again like the 4790k.

Is this just a ploy for regulars on /g/ to see people come back after a few years, pissed off at how much money they spent on their computer with it then running shit for them and being a stuttering mess?
It seems like it'd be too long of a wait before it pays off, in most cases, before people realize how they got scammed.

Not reading your dumb thread, gamer kid.
But they're not the same. The i7 has more cache. Sure, -you- don't use hyperthreading right now. I glanced at your idea to upgrade to the 7700k despite downplaying its value. What the fuck. Shut up. There'll be a new intel generation in a year. Good luck selling a 7600k in favour of a 7700k.

Finally the Firecucks developers decided to fix one of the stupidest bugs (black form fields on webpages when you use a dark Linux theme).

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1158076

Why did it take so long for them to fix it? Because they invest all the donation money in their priority projects, such as their complete diversity department: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Diversity_and_Inclusion_Strategy

What's the take on Mixed Reality? I'm not talking VR, but Hololens, Magic Leap, Apple, and everyone else about to wage war over the coming years. How fast do you guys think it will take hold on the general public? Will we see a transition like we did from 0 to 100 with smartphones?

So I have a chance to get pic related from a grill for 100 bucks.
She says Samsung replaced the screen and battery under warranty about a month ago, but now the phone sometimes freezes and bootloops (which seems to be widespread behavior for up-to-date Note 4s /Edges on Marshmallow).

Question is, would it be worth it if I reflash with a proper custom rom, install a wakelock fix and keep it normie-app free? I only need GPS, Telegram and note taking.

What do you all think Windows looks like in 2023? Will Microsoft do anything innovative over the next 5-10 years?

Nope. MS will double down and try to squeeze more out of the peons on Win10. Then a major data breach or similar event will happen to turn even more people off from Win10.
>>
>>59723620
>Will Microsoft do anything innovative over the next 5-10 years?
Probably not, and they don't need to.

People buy Android for personal mobile devices. It lives on innovation. New phones add new features that make people want to buy them. Mobile interfaces are fairly new and constantly changing and improving.

People buy Windows for business, productivity, and gaming. For business and productivity it mostly does better with minimal innovation and progressive feature enhancement. People want the same interface they're used to, and desktop interfaces are mature. Gaming is similarly mature. There's not very much MS can bring to it apart from improved DirectX that supports graphical enhancements on new GPUs.

Microsoft knows they're losing ground to Android at home. People are switching from desktops and laptops that run Windows, to phones and tablets that run Android. They've fought back some with Windows Mobile and Surface, but it's a losing battle. They admitted this by selling "Microsoft Edition" Samsung Galaxy S8s that run Android.

But it's not going to kill them. Desktops still kill mobile on productivity. Android can run on a desktop, but the GUI sucks for the use case, and the app selection for desktop tasks isn't good. Businesses aren't about to ditch PCs anytime soon.
