What should we do about women in technology/CS?
I want to see more women in CS, just because it'll make the workplace more normal. When all my coworkers are guys the total lack of social skills becomes extremely apparent. If there were more women in the workplace, all the sperglords would have to go crawl back under their rock.
I personally am looking for volunteering opportunities to teach programming to girls
Asian girls only though. I don't want to work with any black girls
>Marry an Asian
>Get Asian daughter
>Teach her shit about engineering
>Teach her nothing else
>Around 16, she'll realise she's a talentless hack and only vaguely good at the subjects she learnt with her pappa all those years ago so she works towards a degree and career path for a subject she's only good at and not passionate at all, eventually talking her into a walking pile of misery, depression and regret for life
>She becomes one of us
See, easy

>Women ... will make the workplace more normal
There is an anon somewhere who genuinely and unironically believes this is more desirable than getting work done
>>59733822
No, no, no. we need less people with a lack of social skills. People who are only good at programming are useless if they can't work with a team, especially a female team.
We need more well adjusted people working in this industry, ESPECIALLY girls.
If me and my hot asian wife raise a girl to only be good at programming, then she'll be a social pariah at school and will only reinforce the stigma that programming is for weird girls.
We need HOT girls to program.
I'm considering buying an iPhone 7+
Should I do it? Why or why not?
All I really want is something that works and has good battery life
If you have any good ideas for alternatives then go ahead and suggest them but they have to work with Verizon (CDMA)
meme
If you want good battery life don't buy an iPhone

Hey /g/, I need some help with a video streaming setup for a live event.
I want to:
* Capture a video stream using a PC
* Stream the video locally to a chromecast. This one must have low latency, so I can't leave the local network.
* Stream the video to a streaming service (like twitch).
How can I do something like this?
Do you need to stream only the video or is audio mandatory too?
>>59734313
Video and Audio
You can do that easily with OBS, free program.
Capture the desktop on the client, send it up on twitch (you can do that) and I don't know how the Chromecast works but you can just setup a video stream on something like SMTP or similar protocols and read it via VLC

When is Nvidia planning on fixing their awful DX12 drivers?
I mean how the fuck can your driver leave your single GPU solution sitting on its ass at half utilization?
>>59733016
Nobody will ever adopt DX12, they already have vulkan support.
>>59733025
This. DX12 is a failure. Move along..
My mouse wheel has become really stiff lately and I'm trying to take my mouse apart to give it a cleaning. All the screws come out fine except for the one on the top right (I really hope this picture doesn't rotate after posting) which looks completely worn despite this being the first time even peeling the sticky feet away. The screw doesn't even have an X on it anymore, it's just a circle. I've tried using the rubber band trick for unscrewing worn out screws but that isn't working either. I have an old mouse that is the exact same one and all the screws on that are fine so it's definitely not supposed to be like this. Does anyone know how to get a fucked up screw out of a mouse? The mouse wheel is becoming unusable and I want to avoid having to buy a new one if possible especially since this one is only around three months old.

What do you need?
4K?
144Hz?
do you even gayme?
MG279Q 144hz IPS or the acer one are nice and less than 650 burgers as well.
>>59732811
4k would be nice but not absolutly required, mainly for gaming, 144hz would be good too. In terms of size, again not a huge issue, as good as i can get for the money
Just buy cheap iiyama, and save the money.

>so my 8gb desktop which i never hibernate won't need a swap partition?
Personally, I can use enough memory to need swap with 8GB of RAM if I use kdenlive on top of my normal usage. I use Genymotion sometimes too and it uses hella memory too.
>>59732412
I'm setting up a home server, so i've partitioned 256mb for /boot, and was going to use the rest of my drive for everything else, encrypted. Should you encrypt a swap partition then? I feel like I won't ever use more then 8gb.
Should I get Ubuntu MATE 16.04.2 LTS or Ubuntu MATE 16.10?
