There was a time I used to be into this kind of thing...
It was kinda cool when I was credited as the first one to get Vista running on a mac but I think my efforts and quite a few other efforts finally pushed apple to release bootcamp.
It was fun though because those of us involved were diving deep into the EFI and some other systems to make it work.
PS: This is an Intel Core based iMac released before Apple made it possible to install windows on one. Also Vista was still in beta...so I didn't know how shitty it would end up being.
>>59737165
How well did it actually run on the thing?
I have a mac of that vintage that I don't think has ever been updated, come to think of it.
>>59737193
It ran OK. Drivers were the biggest issue at the time. Before anyone solved those issues bootcamp released.

Thanks.

Whats the thing about controllers being so hard to work out of the box on PC?
Seriously, unless you are playing a standard xbox controller through windows 10 chances are you will face issues with mapping, joystick axis or inaccurate presses.
I'm trying to use xboxdrv to fix the mapping of my xbox360 controller through raspberry pi 3 and its a pain in the ass. I can't make the shit run on startup using systemctl enable xboxdrv.service for some reason so i have to run it each time i shove the controller in. And the best thing about it is it doesn't work anyway. And yes i blacklisted xpad.
TLDR: Why won't most controllers run well out of the box and why is this such a difficult thing to fix. Controllers seem the same everywhere in the world. Unlike keyboards
>on pc
>thru raspberry pi
>>59736849
The pin outs and signal format and everything else for a console controller is strictly determined by the console developer.
There's no standard for PC. Every controller developer makes theirs a little different and then writes drivers so it can interface with OS input services. If no driver exists, then either the controller doesn't work or a 3rd party might do it.

Currently worthwhile GFX cards:
>RX470, RX480 8GB, R9 Fury, 1070, 1080, 1080TI
>1060 may be worth considering over a 480. Compare the price in your country.
>Budget builds should consider integrated graphics over low-end cards.
If you have patience, you can save a lot by purchasing your parts individually in flash sales.
There might be more reason to /just wait/ if these leaks in 3D mark DB are true.
So many leaks so far with AMD have been dead on, too.
>>59736753
RX580 custom stock OC cards could be almost 1070 performance. Which would make sense, if they are actually on a new process like LPP which was rumored.
But it could just be a manually OC'd one. Polaris can reach 1500mhz with good enough cooling, too.
RX500 series is due about a week after Ryzen 5, iirc. (because releasing them together would make too much sense)
Is this a decent build for a video editing/ music software computer?Anything I'm missing?
>>59736887
This. Decent benchmarks should be out in like a week. If you're planning on building now seriously just wait.
