Sounds like you fell for the 'desktop replacement' meme.
>>59817839
nah. i have a desktop i use. the drive that came in the one i have is shit slow but 1 terrabyte.
i was thinking of setting up a 2nd and dualbooting.
i've yet to use a DVD/CD in amy pc of mine in like 3 years. i figure if there is anything i need i can share it on the network with one of my other pc's with a dvd drive or get a usb adapter for the cd drive, or fuck just copy the shit to a usb3 thumbdrive.
>>59816542
In my opinion. Toshiba's sorta start getting slower. But never really die. They get so slow that they are unusable. WD and Segate just die on you. I recommend Hitachi or WD. That's lasted longest for me
First of all, object oriented programming is for ovaltine spooge drinking niggerfuckers, ok, I don't even know how to do object oriented programming to be quite honest. I have no use for it. Functional programming is really the only acceptable programming paradigm for accurate, secure, and efficient computation. The only coders that lean towards OOP are lazy script kiddies and panjeets that could never grasp the fundamentals of calculus and number theory. Fuck object oriented programming. Object oriented programming is ghetto peasant shit. Object oriented programming is for peasants.

Sounds about right

How does one call themselves a programmer in 2017 and doesn't posses the knowledge to pass an introductory CS course

Hello /g/spotters, I'm a newfag in this board and would like to know your opinion on what the best programing language would be for a beginner looking to learn how to make small pc games. I've looked into a few programs like Unity but the problem is that I don't know any language nor how to code. Only language I know, if you can even call it a language, is a little bit of html.
I was mostly looking to make small 2d games. What should I learn first?
Python
>>59816471
I heard Python is a meme, is it not? Why would you recommend Python to any other language?
>>59816471
1st post best post. alternatively you can try javascript and make webshit.
Hey /g/, My laptop battery refuses to charge so instead of buying a new battery I'm just gonna go ahead and upgrade to a newer laptop. The current one is a much older laptop that has had some wear and tear over the years.
My needs:
>Gif and WebM making, light video editing, converting
>Streaming live events
>General internet browsing
Non needs:
>Gaming
>Music making
>Broadcasting
This is the laptop I am looking at. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834132133&ignorebbr=1 Obviously it has more than I need but I want a product that will last and not be a piece of shit in 2 years.
Money isn't really an issue but I'm not looking to spend $2k on some high speed gaming laptop that will never be used to it's full potential. Any ideas or suggestions /g/?

No thanks.
I have Windows 7 installed on my old PC right now. And I want to install new OS which I have on CD. So normally I would enter BIOS and change boot order so that CD comes before HDD...
BUT
My keyboard isn't working so I cannot enter BIOS. So I thought if I could delete System32 folder that my computer will shut down, and once I restart it, it will boot from CD (because there won't be any operating system on HDD)...
BUT
Windows won't let me delete it!
HALP!
>>59816432
I know this is bait but for the record, if you actually tried this you'd more than likely just brick your Windows install.
Is this a meme? Put in a w7 bootdrive usb and then delete it from there
>>59816432
No the bootloader will load and fail. You must enter BIOS to reinstall, or reinstall FROM windows.
Who's ready for THREADRIPPPPPPPPER and 22 core low clocked Broadwell's getting BTFO
>>59816119
Come on people, it's two 1800X's glued on one huge fucking 3600 pin LGA package, literally highend Xeon performance for one sixth the price.
Also this is my personal opinion, but I'd kill for a 32 core with 3.3/3.3GHz clocks even at 250W TDP, which shouldn't be all that difficult with some cherrypicked voltage bins considering how the low power the 1700 uses
>>59816119
I'm pretty interested in 16c Ryzen in principle but need to wait to see real performance and pricing.
I don't see how they could avoid having the Infinity Fabric crossbars running at 2x higher clocks on the MCM parts At least.

Lmao

It makes sense to stablish some visual identity, though that looks like shit a Yunit sound as gay as the tendency of KDE's programs placing a K in their name.
Should the lights be turned off in the room when using a computer at night? E.g. couple of hours before bed
What's the objective function?
You shouldn't be using a computer a couple of hours before bed.
>>59816015
Fuck else would I do?
I'm an author who will be travelling the country, and I want a robust, performance based laptop to write on in the evenings.
Would a Xiaomi's Mi Notebook Air 13" be good value?
Literally any computer will do. Get anything. You're writing text. George RR Martin uses fucking atari or something

I FUCKING HATE THIS MEME. Why make a device that is on your person 24/7 out of one of the most brittle substances known to man? What was the fucking point of this?
You're not supposed to drop it.
