I just switched to Budgie Remix, or as I recently used to call it - Ubuntu Budgie from Gentoo/Plasma 5. This is a definition of comfy, it is what gnome should have been. Now I understand Solus meme, this DE will be GOAT in few months/years when they will fix some annoying bugs.

Currently worthwhile CPUs:
>G4560 for budget builds (<$500) unless G4620/i3 is discounted over 25%
>i3 aren't worthwhile, unless for highly single threaded tasks. e.g. dwarf fortress & emulators
>i5 aren't worthwhile. No exceptions. Drop down to G4560 or up to i7
>i7-7700k is good but pricey. If over budget, consider 6700k and/or a locked motherboard + cheaper cooler; not chasing 4.8Ghz capable when you weren't gonna overclock - or get Ryzen 7.
>R7 or Xeon for compute & multitask workstations
Currently worthwhile GFX cards:
>1060GB, 1070, 1080, 1080TI
>1060 is worth considering over a 480 if same/cheaper in your country, or you just play games it's better on for the price. 1050Ti is for mITX builds
>Budget builds: consider integrated graphics over any card weaker than an 1060 3GB, unless another's price/performance is better (ie discounted/used)
General:

-Creating an Infinality-like font configuration for Arch-
From a clean slate on Arch we can now create a similar font configuration to the infinality-bundle's without having to use the patched packages. It is now possible to easily get great-looking results with the default interpreter.
1. Create the following symlinks to instruct freetype2 to use good-looking rendering defaultssudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/11-lcdfilter-default.conf /etc/fonts/conf.dsudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-sub-pixel-rgb.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d
2. Modify (or create)/etc/fonts/local.confto contain these contents: https://pastebin.com/rnDtdzt5
3. At this point your fonts should look pretty good but we can do even better by making sure that we have all fonts on the system that were defined as substitutions earlier. To do this we need to install the packagesfonts-meta-extended-ltandfonts-meta-basefrom the AUR which will build the rest of the fonts required.
After having done all this, restarting the X-server by logging out and back in should apply all changes.
