honestly depends on the size of the project, personally back in school we used git for everything but honestly never really needed it for the majority of our projects, and a simple sync'd dropbox or something would've sufficed

But later on when working with 4+ people on codebases with that grew to several thousand lines with a week or two. version control was absolutely critical for getting any kind of co-ordination done.

I've seen probably 10,000 KDE desktops, but I've only seen one KDE desktop I actually liked out of all of them.

KDE may be versatile, but the only way to make it look as good as GNOME is to spend half your life configuring every aspect of it all the way down the the most minute details.

It's not worth it.

gnome has and will always be the default. I'm glad Ubuntu is finally moving back to it for default. It was kind of a workaround for certain packages.

KDE will always be the third tier. WM's are second tier.
