Why is /g/ so infatuated with PC components and custom builds?

Is it a meme?
Is it pragmatism?
Is your hobby actually putting pre-made pieces of silicon into pre-made holes in your computer, and trying to sound "knowledgable" about it on the internet.

Short of rolling my own distribution, how can I get rid of XFT blurry as fuck fonts? I want bitmap for everything. Bitmap fonts are CRISP and CLEAR, actually PIXEL PERFECT. This XFT shit is going to ruin my eye sight.

>>59866535
Don't use LibreOffice first of all.
Be sure to activate bitmap fonts in your fontconfig settings (Some distros like Debian disable them by default).
Then you can install your favorite bitmap font and use it.

I tried to get out of WINDBLOWS
Botnet
Tried arch for 2 months, IT was great until crashes upon crashes, I was using i3 and infinality-like fonts, I want to change to something more comfy and to still using some rolling release distro, is there a good option to move on? I wouldn't mind using some distro with xfce + compton tho

Alright /g/,
Windows LTSB thread.
I researched literally everything about this supposed "botnet-free" OS and I've understood what it is but cannot find anywhere to legitimately buy it (or even pirate it for the real deal).
Is it a meme tier OS that serves no purpose or does it actually work?
Anyone ever used/currently using it,
explain how you got it?
Thanks.

Who says is botnet free? Maybe bloatware-free but still all the telemetry functionality
>>
I heard that you download something and the
telemetry is blocked since LTSB is less update-frenzy.

Why is this shit popular? What do I do? Do I just download the XFCE or GNOME Ubuntu? Should I be moving away from Debian based? I hear good things about Arch and I know Gentoo is great but I'm not an incredible loonix user and I don't want to not have my computer for a few days while I wait for the install.

mint is a frankendebian and very insecure. you're better off just using actual debian or ubuntu, instead of something that tries to be both at once.

More like they're responsible with doing Apple's PR.

But they don't shy away from shilling for all the big firms here and there, gotta get those PR shekels. As long as they make sure to imply Apple's stuff reigns supreme, they've done their "journalistic" job.
