Pathetic. I would have more respect for him if he didn't try and address the issues. But he is a narcissist and so everything he does HAS to be right.

I've recently seen conversation about this pop up with greater frequency, and it got me curious.

Do people like Kurzweil garner new interest, or do such fantastic claims, when repeated often enough, create a diffusion of responsibility? I've made a trek to Reddit due to their having boards specifically on the topic, but I see relatively little input from computer engineers or biomedical engineers, mostly just high schoolers and twenty-somethings talking about how awesome the future is, as if predictions are set in stone.

Why don't they make a slightly modular laptop where the "shell" which includes the screen, keyboard and battery has a slot to replace the motherboard with the integrated SoC?
Almost like an ExpressCard, manufactures would just release upgraded versions each year and different SKUs (CPU, RAM, GPU).
You pop out the old one and insert a new one, without the need to replace the whole body.

they want to sell you a new full price machine every 4-6 years
>>
Because that has literally never attracted buyers before. People want new hotness to be visible and to be ENTIRELY new, in part because they damage the shells and also because that's the visible part. Vision is everything. People are vain.
>>
>>59992646
People don't care about computer specs, they just want their computer to look new.
It's why people trade in their cars mere seconds after paying them off, they just want a new car, NEW NEW NEW, can't have people thinking you're poor, good goy.

I'm at the point today where I will stop giving this KDE autistic child a chance and dump DE for good. I have been trying really hard to cope with KDE as my main DE in last 5 years and put up with lots of bullsh*t like akonadi, crashes, etc.

I can literally browse KDE bugs for 2 hours and find at least 50+ bugs that I expierience on daily basis and yet these bugs sit the bugzilla queue as UNCONFIRMED and fixing them would result in boost in UI usability and stability. No dev cares. Such sad state of KDE, it has always been just a big experiment project since 3.x. Qt 5.8 is bugged, no good wayland support in sight. KDE has no future beside being just a project worked among handful german developers and ties to Suse.

Browse kde.bugs.org, hundreds and hundreds of bugs.

Bye cute dragon mascot.

Hi /g/ I need some fact-checking from some people experienced in web design/code and possibly (UK) law. Here's the backstory, a guy who lives on my street has been convicted of possessing CP, and the rest of my street have been abusing him, yelling at him etc. His wife/parter distributed this 5 page letter today concerning how she believes he has been wrongfully convicted. It contains some information on what's allegedly the police's flawed methods used when convicting him and I was hoping someone could clarify whether what she said is true.. Will dump more of the letter in comments

Only half way through, but the jury not understanding the caching thing is nothing new, if you read Ghost in the Wires by Kevin Mitnick he gives dozens of examples of being wrongly convicted because the jury is fucking retarded about technology and won't even bother to learn when it concerns a person's sentencing.
