Hello /g/
I am looking for an OS rather than Linux to use instead of Windows
I wanted macOS Sierra but I am autistic and can't make a hackintosh so I was wondering what good alternative that look or feel close to macOS Sierra are there?

If you consider yourself a C++ programmer, you should have read one of the "Effective C++" books by Scott Meyers.

Look up what PDO::FETCH_NUM does. It doesn't do what you think
>>
>>60067914
>PDO::FETCH_NUM
i changed it with rowCount();
but it stills fucks up

it directly echo's the first alert and redirects me before i get to type that

if i delete that

it does the same but with the second echo

so it's ignoring the if and else statements

someone help please, this is due tomorrow

read the arch wiki on it before you do anything

Something from science fiction - that could open a space for humans - really fast moving from Earth to Mars f.e. What would you do? Sell it? Keep it for yourself?(Mining in space could make you first trillionaire in world history, but how to retain techology? - It's very serious question). Or you will be generous and give it to the world for free.
To be clear: It's just a mental experiment. I thought about this for a very long time, but I could not decide what I would do. Sorry for my english.

non-upgradeability without the portability of a laptop

I like that they are light, easy to move, and set up.
Dislike they are usually lower tier pays for mid tier price.
But I built mine so I'm biased anyway
>>
>>60067545
dislike price. really expensive for fuck all benefit. would still pay for mac aio or something worthy on the windows side of things and write off as tax expense. Would i use one for me or all purpose shit? nah.

like - retail focus is on screen and cam quality.

I feel like this punishment is kind of cruel especially since I need the money. Anyone else have a situation like this? I had a lot of work to do and would've made my boss a ton of money. Why is he so pissed? It's not like any money is missing...

What kind of sketchy lowlife store do you work at? Is this shit even legal?
>>
>>60067415
> network admin
> 600 dollar cash sale that I had sold
What the fuck?
>>
>>60067530
There is a front end store and I normally help clients with items and give suggestions to sell computers. Normally I do this because I was just the regular senior technician and when a client walks into the store I need to assist that person in purchasing what they need.

I got upgraded to a network admin position a day or 2 ago but if I am in the tech pit and nobody is in the office then I will assist that client.

Title self explanatory. I need a laptop with libreboot and that can work with only linux-libre. If it can use GNU Hurd that will be fucking great.

>>
>>60067392
Cheapest option is buy the flashing equipment yourself (~$80). Otherwise you can buy pre-librebooted laptops on eBay.
>>
>>60067435
I was hoping to find a store nearby so I can buy more equipment in the future. But yes, doing it myself is the last option.
>>
>>60067392
Buy an used Thinkpad T420 and install Libreboot yourself.

What did they mean by that?
66 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
They meant that java is a bad introductory language
>>
Is there anything worse than non-technical writers writing about programming?

His biggest argument was that the classic hello world in Java is scary to beginners.
Should we dumb down math and law because it's scary to beginners?

Of course not.
>>
>>60067425
Of course we do.
You're not a racist, right anon? People in the community need good jobs so we have to make programming easy like TV.

New Arch user here, how long does it take until you don't need to consult archwiki every 5 seconds to do some basic shit?

Also the default awesome theme looks shite.

You'll never stop consulting the arch wiki.
>>
>>60067308

Awesome was shit to begin with. Save yourself from wasting time and just install a DE. Then you can stop looking at the goddamn wiki and actually get some work done - which is the sole purpose of a computer anyways.

Never ends, mostly because somtimes you tweak some shit and you don't touch it for at least a year and you forget how to do it but you remember that there was a wiki article about it

>Also the default awesome theme looks shite.
yes it is. Fuck them.
