Don't you think the 'hipster' meme bullshit should be left in 2009? Are you all that stuck in your basements that you don't know what's happening around you? Maybe you're just rural losers.
A reminder, that by using Android phones YOU are the contrarian hipster. Especially since its an inferior product and you're being a masochist by using it, which is a very hipster thing to do.
jesus christ why is this board so full of shills? don't you have a life? fuck off already nobody cares about your shitty, shallow piece of plastic and metal. there are far more interesting caveats of technology ranging from compact fusion reactors to qubit architecture, but instead of you want to fucking bicker about two companies. it's pathetic. this is why humanity is doomed to die on this rock and nowhere else. your ancestors are probably rolling in their graves.

Cry more, Android 2.3 pajeet.

not the person you replied to here,
I have been forced by virtue of employment to use an iphone since version 4. Without a doubt, the only good thing I have observed is the battery life. Everything else - the mystery stuttering in chat, delayed message delivery, activesync failures, hotspot spasms, random lockups requiring a hard start, etc. - has been no better.
Frankly, I don't care about it, beyond the fact that they are now so thin I'm afraid I'll break the damn thing by just picking it up.
iPhone was, is, and will continue to be (for a little while) a meme, nothing more. I don't care that you have an overpriced product, and neither does my employer. My employer does, however, care that I can be reached while on call. And when the goddamn phone acts up and refuses to report pages until 20 minutes after the fact, I have to really wonder why people pay for overpriced garbage.
Give me a consistent phone. I don't give two flying fucks about your goddamn selfie shots that no-one gives a shit about on Facebook. I don't care about snapchat, I care about server uptime. I don't give a shit about your news apps, I give a shit about my RSS feeds for overnight jobs submitted.
Jesus H. Fucking Harry Christ on Crutches, it's like you fuckers enjoy being wallet-raped every 2 years.

"Legit Bottom Line: If gaming is the main reason you are looking at building a new system, the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X stands up to the Intel i7-7700K in nearly every game we tested. This shows that either processor will work great in a gaming system. The AMD Ryzen 7 1700X though, has the added bonus of the extra cores/threads allowing you to do more multitasking while gaming, especially when it comes to doing things that can take advantage of the extra cores and threads."

What is the whole problem with systemd?
I use Linux as my main OS 24/7 however I am not a sysadmin or anything special, I just do some programming in Java/Python/C++ and use the bash to write simple programs to facilitate my life.
Why do people say that systemd is bad? Should I even care? What does it even do for Crist sake?
/g/ doesn't like it because "d" is short for "dick" and it looks like a commie dick.
>>60080273
good point
so should I just not care?
>>60080289
No. It's just elitist bantz.
Ok /g/, so I need to connect to my employer through VPN (Cisco specifically).
Everything works fine and all except I noticed the VPN client application sets up routing automatically based on a config sent from the VPN server.
Isn't this a huge security breach for my computer? I mean, one day they may send a config to route just the necessary, but the next time I connect I might be routing my whole porn searches through the company's VPN.
It's my personal computer by the way.
How do you guys go about it? Do you disable the auto-config and manually set the routes yourself? I can't even find an option on OpenConnect to not set up routes.
>>60080070
Run your client in a VM?
>>60080070
Work asset? Get some fucking self control and stop using it to browse porn. Personal asset? Take it up with IT.
>>60080121
How fucking practical, having to install my whole development environment again on a VM and maintaining it separately from my main machine.

Not trying to undermine the achievements of academics, but I just hate the methodologies employed by academia.
I prefer the the more just-get-it-done approach of the industry.
Am I in the wrong here?
Not necessarily wrong, but be careful. "The industry" currently has a problem of monopoly, which allows standards to stay low and hinders progress and creativity.
Of course I am referring to Microsoft. They have no competitors in the desktop or laptop market. Apple's target market is too niche for Apple to be considered a competitor. This is why's Microsoft can get away with Windows 10; because consumers have no other choice.
Academia typically has high standards regardless of competition. Reconsider your position please.
I have zero respect for your singles.

Hello,
I recently landed a job in Supply Chain. I know basic Excel (IF statements, Solver, Vlookups, etc.) but I feel to progress in my career I need to master VBA programming. Can any of you recommend any resources that help people with no coding experience learn VBA?
Bump
>>60079966
VBA won't help you with anything. It's just a corporate meme that was big a decade ago. The new corporate meme is diversity. Try gentoo
Can i unlock on this processor 4 cores? Is a AMD Athlon 64X2 5200 +
I am planning to use it for gaming so is crucial if i can unlock the four cores
>>60079940
>Athlon 64
No
>>60079940
Just buy another one, remove the cores from that and tape them to the bottom. Job done.
Go in the forest, look under some rocks, find an Athlon X4.
If there were too many people becoming programmers, the wages would become less ridiculously elevated. They're still ridiculous, ergo more programmers are needed.
There's STILL not enough people to fill all the jobs. As computers continue to take over more and more industries, I only project the need for programming jobs to keep growing.

Too bad this barely covers the Ryzen 7 release, much less the Ryzen 5.

$14 before the earnings call.
