Sup /g/, for a while now my neighbor in my apartment building and I have been splitting the internet bill, with me connecting to his wireless router. However, someone recently moved in to a unit closer to me than the neighbor I'm sharing with, and ever since then my internet has slowed to a crawl (<1Mbps). I'm guessing the new neighbor's wireless router is causing interference. I've tried all the 2.4GHz channels, even the in-between ones but it makes no difference.
Unfortunately 5GHz doesn't work, at least with the stock antennas. I'm just out of range by maybe 20 feet or so (and a couple concrete walls).
Unless someone has had good luck with a high gain 5GHz antenna extending coverage through walls, and can share their experience here... it would seem my only two options are
>powerline ethernet
>MoCA
Powerline ethernet seems like sort of a crappy solution, and I live in an old building and my neighbor and I are on totally different meters, so I'm not even sure it would work well. I also fear that it might trip other peoples' circuit breakers if they have the new ARC type installed.
Then there's MoCA, but from what I understand, a POE filter needs to be installed to prevent interference with other customers. Outside there is a cable box where there is a split from the main drop to each different unit. Given that, I'm not sure how I'd install a POE filter so that the MoCA wouldn't interfere with others, but also so the signals wouldn't be blocked between myself and my neighbor (who are connected to different cables at the main box).
Any suggestions? Am I underestimating the effectiveness of a high (24+) gain 5GHz antenna's effectiveness through walls? Or the performance of powerline ethernet (or likelihood of it tripping breakers)? Or is there an easy way to install a POE filter between my neighbor and I? Something else?

Ryzen 7 1700x or i7 7700k?
I play XIV and Overwatch, and would like to shoot for 144hz in gaymes.
>>60082539
I don't know anything about meme fantasy 14 but both can do 200+FPS in Overwatch.
stop playing video games
Whatever, man. Do you have the money for the intel? I'd probably get that. If you're trying to save a couple bones, get the Ryzen
It's really not a big deal and neither are going to be the botleneck on a 144hz Overwatch build, that'll be your GPU.
FWIW I get ~110 FPS on Ultra in overwatch at 1440p 144hz with a 1070 and a 6700k. Not exactly a high-end game.
So where do we go now, bois

I'm moving from the US to Europe and I want to take the computer I built along. I've exhausted all of my resources and I can't seem to find a straight answer. The country I'm going to supports a voltage of 220-240V, and my PSU has a switch on the back to change voltages. Now I have the US cable, but I don't have an EU cable to plug in. Will using a socket adapter work, or should I keep looking to find an EU cable for my PSU?
Just get a new cable it is stupid cheap and easy to find
And yes it will work

Yes.

When I first heard about this concept I was excited of the possibilites, but soon I realized it would probably be like in pic related. Anyway, how far in the future you think it would be possible to upload your mind to a computer?
>>60081898
As soon as you can grab all your brain electrons and chemical states and place them 1:1 into a computer and then continue to move them in a way that works.
So, never.
>>60081898
What? You literally only need "drivers" to the brain stem "bus". Then you control all the senses and can provide a virtual reality.

Get used to it, they are the future. The projected population growth of India, China, and Africa far outweighs that of Europe or America.

I too find the dialect distracting as all hell. Most of my contact with it is also when looking for material on Youtube so I'm not used to it.
I wish there was a way to restrict by geographic area one's search results and not only by language.
>>60081967
I don't get where you think that the population of whites is somehow the greatest over all other races? Whites have always been the minority on this earth just because a bunch of fucking pajeets decide to make shitty fucking reviews with there shitty little 2000s web cam somehow they'll take river the world?
Are founders edition cards really that bad?
We got gift cards from an retailer as work bonus, but it only has founders edition 1080Ti's. But with the gift card a 1080Ti would "only" be (the equivalent of) US$ 400
>>60081820
They run in the mid-80s by design and get pretty loud (even more so if you want to lower temperatures). I don't know about the 1080 Ti, but the 1080 one also throttled like crazy, right down to its rated base clock over time.

Can we have a decent mouse thread?
I'm planning to buy a new mouse to replace my Deathadder that served me 3 years. It still work's fine but when something hits the cable it would disconnect all of a sudden.
Looking into Zowie Ec2a, Steelseries rival 300 or the Logitech g403.
I have a claw grip and would prefer a mouse slightly lighter and smaller than the Deathadder.
Also I play some games like CSGO, Overwatch and Dota if that helps. I'm just trying to get a good mouse with good sensor and is actually comfy.
Razer Naga Hex since years
>>60081786
Too bulky and useless buttons for me honestly. need something that's sleek and simple
The logitech and Zowie are solid choices, the rival 300 is known for being a overly large mouse with no smaller option since the 700 and 500 is smaller but very heavy.
