Why can't there be one universal standard for tech, /g/?

Just look at file systems.
>FAT
>NTFS (dynamic and basic)
>ext, 2, 3, 4
>APFS

And then we move on to OS stuff
>python subprocess doesn't work properly on Windows
>\r\n for one system, \n for another
>os sep \ for one system, / in another

File organization:
>C:\, D:\, E:\ ...
>/dev/sda. /dev/sdb ...

lets not even start on physical components...

I'm thinking about getting one of those, pic related, raspberry pi 3, model B.

I have a couple of spare HDD that would like to have accessible via FTP.

Is it a good idea to get a raspberry pi for the job?

If you can consolidate your data on to one drive a Cubietruck has a sata port and gigabit Lan. You need some kind of power adapter for 3.5" drives though.
>>
>>60158785
As long as you're happy having an incredibly slow fileserver it's perfect. The network speed is limited by processor/bus and you're going to further limit i/o by USB. Other than that it works fine.
>>
>>60159016
Lack of gigabit ethernet and SATA ports are pretty huge limitations for a file server these days though.

I'm a mainland yuropoor looking for a cheap ultra portable laptop for when I'm out and about.
I need:
>long battery life (about 8 hours of browsing on Wi-Fi)
>small footprint (14" or under)
>HDMI out
>cheap (under 350€)
>can install GAHNOO+Linux (I'm not sure all devices support this)
>must be new, not buying used

I would like an IPS panel but that probably won't happen at that price point.

A passive cooling solution would also be preferred, but I'm not sure 6W CPUs are strong enough for browsing (with uMatrix, uBlock and a couple Greasemonkey scripts running) and some light programming/scripting without lagging annoyingly. I know a 15W Pentium 3805U is good enough for me.

I'm currently eyeing a Lenovo Ideapad 110S (110s n3060) for 199€. Do you guys have any better suggestions?

Save up a little more and get a Lenovo Yoga 710, or buy one lightly used. They are objectively some of the most ultra portable, light, high proccessing laptops with great build quality.
>>
>>60158599
That looks to be about 1000€, so no thank you.

It's not about not having the cash on hand, it's about a very real chance of getting it stolen/badly damaged.
I was already about to shill out over 1000€, but decided against it for those reasons.

A cheap device getting destroyed/stolen would just make me annoyed.

Basically I just need something to whip out on train/bus/plane/park/pub and not give a single fuck if something bad happens to it. Keeping it under 400€ ensures that sort of attitude.

ASUS L502SA seems like a nice option as well but it comes with a 500GB HDD and that sounds worse than 32GB of eMMC.

Is it even worth using a framework for a small web app in PHP (solo college project) that would help managing a mock reservation business? Or are frameworks usually used for much bigger/enterprise-level apps?

Nothing to hide! The government needs these backdoors! Think of the children!
Not surprising though, I've seen proof-of-concept ME exploitation back in 2012 (somewhat limited remote exploitation too).
This is why anything and everything that can't be audited - that is everything closed-source can't be part of the root of trust, it is insecure/unsecured/compromised by design.

Is there a way to use integrated graphics on intel cpu alongside a dedicated gpu? Just to get a tiny bit extra performance, or is that impossible and retarded to ask?

in a few specific cases with Radeon APUs and Radeon dedicated GPUs, yes

for intel? lol no

>>
There was this thing called Lucid Virtu. It was totally worthless
>>
>>60158247
It wouldn't be worth it. It's like when people tried to use a second, weaker GPU for Physx. Hardly any extra performance, and sometimes worse.

Is it open source and did you build it from that source? If not, no, you can absolutely not trust it. Pirating software is riddled with malware.
