Is there a Linux distro that will actually install properly other than Ubuntu? First time installing any distro alongside Windows 10, and Ubuntu won't install GRUB2 properly so it won't boot.
Are variants like Xubuntu or Lubuntu worth a goddamn, or should I just start looking for another distro entirely?

Some cars have cylinder deactivation to improve fuel economy when just doing light tasks like cruising. Do any multicore CPU's have an equivalent? Something to cut processing power/energy usage while you're using your computer as a facebook machine that doesn't wake up all the cores until you start using something processor-heavy?
If not, why not? Is it a technical infeasibility?
