why do they resist?
>>60179027
What games are they trying to run? Are the games proprietary? If so, that could be part of the problem. Game developers are extremely ADD, often they just want to do the laziest job possible on the game and then move onto the next one. Most proprietary games I've seen on GNU/Linux try to do stupid stuff like link with an old version of glibc, or ship with a bunch of .so files for the wrong architecture, or depend on some outdated third party library that was only built for 2.x kernels, or some shit like that. It's not your friends' fault, you can blame the game developers for their shitty development practices.
>not using Ubuntu based distro

You can replace the package manager but it's so much work it's not worth it. Just install Arch instead.

Not really a bait thread. I'm just curious.

because I've got more important shit going on in my life than learning a new skill.
wedding is in less than a month, and after that I'm binge studying ccna so I can gtfo of systems.
I may pick up programming later, but for now it would have no impact on my life other than as a timesink.

Why is the R9 390 the black sheep of AMD?
>>60178174
It works fine for me. Temps alarmed me in the beginning but I've gotten used to it. New drivers give up performance in old benchmarks and games but increase perf in newer titles. It's just 2nd fiddle now because AMD isn't making any money off used cards.

Could be worse. At least you don't own a 380. ;_;
Based Austrians have found a way to tax the most evil companies on the planet and make them pay for destroying our privacy.
>“The most ambitious part of the plan targets the business models of Twitter Inc., Google or Facebook: The tacit pact under which searching, liking, posting and tweeting remains free as long as users let the companies feed usage data into algorithms that help tailor advertising that can be aimed at the most likely buyers.”
>Since this arrangement is a form of bartering, the Austrian government argues, a value-added tax can be applied, just as in other sectors of the economy.
>“The business transaction that’s going on here is that users are paying with their personal data,” the parliamentary head of the governing coalition, Andreas Schieder, told journalists in Vienna. “The business model of those internet companies is based on massive revenues that are generated with the help of those data.”
>“The business transaction that’s going on here is that users are paying with their personal data,”
>“The business transaction that’s going on here is that users are paying with their personal data,”
Fucking GENIUS if you ask me!
Go get them, Austria! Hope others follow.
Austria is pretty irrelevant. Couldn't all of those companies just ban Austrian IPs from accessing their services?
