Like "object-oriented", nobody actually know what "functional" means.
You can write functional code in any language.
When you see a functional programming zealot, you can never be sure if they mean avoiding stateful programming or simply avoiding global state.

Hey /g/, I know this is not a tech support board, but I am having a strange problem that I can't find a solution for, and I believe you guys can help.

So I am trying to install Windows 7 from a USB onto an HP laptop that is currently running Linux Mint. The USB boots into Windows 7, gets past the home screen and the language selection, then I receive the error message that you can see in the picture.

I can install any flavor of Linux onto this laptop with no problems, this only happens with my Windows 7 USB, which I have confirmed works on other computers.

What should I do?

Don't use USB3, Windows 7 doesn't have drivers for it...

What do I do if the laptop only has USB 3 slots? Will I just have to burn a disc?

Just your regular stuff like CCleaner or 7-Zip. I have barely found any difference whatsoever goind from 32 to 64 bit software. Main ones being compression tools which get a slight boost in benchmarks, as well as CPU-Z... For benchmarks.

Any good real world applications?

with 32bit you can't access more than 4gig of ram, maybe you're just using useless shit software.

just use 32 bit OS then

>>60249576
does 32bit still exist? I think in this day and age 2GB ram is more expensive than 4GB.

USB C. I hope it won't replace Type A completely though, it's still way better, Type C was clearly only made for mobile shit.

USB c is better than micro USB in every way

But USB a is still light-years more durable

We're currently being invaded by an army of (i hope, would be sad otherwise) paid Intel shills, being especially insidious since the 7700K temps stuff came up to light.

They're very easy to spot, catchphrases are:
>Poozen
>Poo in the loo (usually posted by itself as a counter argument)
>K CPUs are not meant to be OC'd, they just have higher base clocks
>IMG_xxxx.jpg (usually including manipulated or cherrypicked benchmarks, or badly ms-painted memes)

Ignore, report and don't pay attention to them.

All gayming fags need to go back to >>>/v/

I learned my craft two and a half years ago.
In a small company where we exclusively use Delphi for programming.

After 2.5 years I feel like shit with my skillset. Especially when I look at projects other coders have to work on.

All the people I learned with are lazy slobs that don't have to do any coding on their job (I'm serious, they come to work for 2h and then simply go home and nobody cares).

I know of the saying that "delphi is dead", but I disagree with that notion, as it allows for some deep level-programming that I didn't see in other languages like Java and C# (granted I wasn't exposed to them as much as I was to Delphi, I think those languages allow for that kind of stuff too though), it is also used for game development and you can interface your hardware with it.

I just feel like I need to work on harder projects than desktop-applications for database management to be of any value as a programmer and to outgrow my own thoughts of inadequacy and uselessness.

Have any of you ever felt that way?
Did you escape from this spiral of suffering?
If yes How?
Am I overthinking things?

OP here
bumping for visibility.
I'm mostly a lurker on this and other boards with occasional comments and contributions.

I felt like opening a thread since any other place I could think of for discussing my issues wouldn't yield any results. And many people simply wouldn't "understand" my perspective.

I feel like on this board the users are simply more competent and won't hold back with what they have to say.

Good evening, users. I have to delete some data from my hard drives, so it can't be found or recovered, at least in full.
I've heard of "low-level format", but after reading some articles, it seems to me that all software is snake oil, so it's not better than default Windows formatter.
I'm using HDD Low Level Format Tool right now.
I've asked another imageboard for advice, and they said I should wipe my drives several times. Will it ensure destruction of my data? Need to wipe 2 TB HDD, will take days to wipe just once.

What the fuck is grooming?

I understand what you're talking about from context and I know what the word means in other contexts, but how the fuck did it find its way into scrums?

Anyway I don't have a particularly entertaining story, just the experience of a boss who wanted to institute this framework and then never held anyone accountable to the process. Then he got upset nothing happened. The upshot to my story is that there are living, breathing human beings out there who literally (the real literally) believe that agile/scrum is magic. I'm so ashamed for our species.
>>
>>60249294

Grooming is just assessing the complexity of tasks in our own point system for later planning of sprints, as you probably assume from the context.

I know what you mean.

For fucks sake, good engineers do good work, shit engineers do shit work, no amount of planning magic is going to change that.

The main thing that managers love about things like agile and groomings/plannings is that they get nice colorful graphs of what the team is doing.

And everyone knows managers have a colorful graph fetish.

>sprint review/retrospective meeting
>management asking me "what lessons for next sprint can we learn from not finishing this one task"
>whatthefuck.bat
>argue with two managers in the room for good 5 minutes about how it's better to do more work and not fit in arbitrary sprint limits
>"herp derp it makes it harder to plan next sprint"

These people are "managers"...

there is a point of diminishing returns, at 10nm, the gates are so small it makes it harder for electrons to fit through, that's why the 10nm processors are slower

it's perfectly feasible for them, but trying to make it cost-effective for profits is the hard part
