yes, in my opinion it's the best desktop distribution of Linux. good default setups and Cinnamon DE is no nonsense and intuitive, just like Windows 7
it's based on Ubuntu's long term service distros which the majority of linux pc's run, so huge community and support.
you'll hear FUD about it because their website got hacked once and they renamed some packages so certain OLD VERSIONS of programs will not work without dicking around.

I need a PC I can move back and forth between Europe and America only between 2-3 times a year, but I need it to fit in a hand baggage.
