Hey guys, there's no Audiophile general up so I'm going to have to ask this here:
I just purchased a pair of Klipsch RF10 floorstanding speakers for my gaming PC setup.
I ran them through my receiver and they sound fantastic, but I needed to add a subwoofer to really handle the full spectrum like I want. So I had one option without spending any more money.
My receiver doesn't have a dedicated sub channel and the only woofer I own is the one included in the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 kit, which contains a built in amplifier that can push a maximum 200 watts. The original satellites would draw up to 35 watts at 4 ohms. The woofers' max draw is somewhere between 110-130 watts.
The new RF10 floorstanders I have attached can take a maximum of 75 watts with 8 ohms. My question is: will I ruin both pieces of equipment by using them together?
When I hooked them up last night I played some tracks on very low volume and everything seemed to work, and it sounded excellent. I'm asking this before I turn them up a bit today. Will I cook the built-in amplifier in the sub? Or will I damage the tweeters with clipping? What about both?
Help me, I'm a total noob with speakers. I'm listening to some music at approximately 20% volume right now and it all seems to be working.
I'm currently thinking everything is safe if I keep the volume at <50% or so, preventing the wattage from coming up short. And that is plenty loud enough for me right now.
I am worried that I'll turn them up not thinking about it when I'm drunk at some point and hurt them....
Am I right or wrong?

Thank you for the response.
I am trying to wrap my head around all of this speaker technical jargon, and it's getting less confusing but I'm still not an expert by any means. I am absolutely looking to pick up a new woofer at some point. Those both look excellent.
So really you're saying the only problem I'll have is not getting the full potential from my floorstanders? Using the built in amp will not run the risk of underpowering (damaging) the towers?
While I've got your attention, what receiver would you recommend to power these things plus a nice woofer? I'm realizing that my current set up is going to be temporary if I'm not getting the full strength of these magnificent towers.

Linux is riddled with backdoors, built straight into the OS.
Even if that wasn't enough, any x86 OS has hardware-level backdoors.

Hey, guys.
I'm technologically retarded and I was wondering if it's possible to make your computer 'run faster'. I've looked up articles online, but I'd figure you'd guys would know better.
>>60385615
1. Get an SSD
2. Manage your startup, background processes and services
3. Don't use less than 6 GB RAM
4. Don't use anything older than a Core 2 Quad
Install Gentoo to make your computer run like new.

I'm upgrading my windows xp shit to this.
Any good way to backup files from this to transfer to Mint?
Or just select manually whatever shit i want to save?
>>60384605
Yeah, try Rsync
It should be installed on your Linux Mint live environment.
Mount your hard drive, then rsync your Documents/Downloads/Pictures/Videos/Music directories to your external backup drive
>>60384605
Please consider Antergos instead of Mint: https://antergos.com/
With Mint you have to reinstall with every new release and the software is older.
Antergos is rolling release and based on Arch so you will always have the latest software and will never have to reinstall.

Don't listen to this guy
A new "release" is every two years, and you don't have to upgrade for 4 if you don't want to

/g/, all I want is a new netbook that fits a SATA hard drive, but it looks like most of them have been replaced by tablets and tablet-like laptops that can't possibly fit a standard SATA III SSD.
I might have to buy one, but what are their limitations? Can you install Linux on them? Can their SSDs be removed or replaced? Are they just glorified phones?
What's the usual name for these things, anyway? Tablet PCs?
>>60380881
Most of the 11.6" netbooks have eMMC memory, the more expensive ones have m.2 or SSDs.
I'd personally go with the XPS 13 Developer Edition. It plays nice with most OSes, and the 256GB model and up include a M.2 SSD that is user replaceable. (Obviously that voids warranty.)
>>60380881
most thin laptops now use the .m2 format, pic related
it's about the same price as Sata SSDs, maybe 10% more expensive
$140-200 for 500GB
and they are actually much faster than Sata SSDs, about 3-4x, they can reach write/read speeds of 2000 MB/s+

So I'm actually fairly impressed with the R7, pretty good TDP and the 16 threads at 3+ghz is nice as well.
I'm thinking of upgrading my severely underpowered media server from an old budget build Pentium G3258 to a new R71700X.
Would this actually be worth doing or would an i7 on the 1150 socket be a better idea, the most important function of the server is video encoding so I will need as much CPU power as reasonably possible for around 400 bucks or so.
I really hate the i7 since its just a memed out quad core but it would be cheaper to just buy the chip and swap it, however if Ryzen really would be that much better I wouldn't mind dropping an extra hundred bucks for a new MOBO as well for Ryzen.
Can any of you guys who have one of these CPUs comment on the FFMPEG encode speed? Specifically in regards to the rate of encode for 1.5 MB/s 1080p video using libx264?
I've looked around the web but none of the benchmarks cover the type of tests that I want, they are at best testing a 2 minute long video at 720p or some garbage in handbrake which isn't even indicative of the same thing. My videos take about 10-20 hours to process now and I am looking to greatly reduce this number.
Intel users, feel free to chime in as well.
>>60450336
Anything that uses MOAR CORES is going to do better with R5/R7. You don't even need to see specific benchmarks for your workload to know that.
I don't know, you tell me.
>1.5MB/s
Can you please not do this? Just use 22 or 16 CRF and stop pulling arbitrary bitrates out of your ass.
