So /g/, I found all these M-ITX motherboards in the trash on one of my dumpster diving excursions. They're not all Asrock D1800B-ITX (only 3 are) but actually Biostar N3150NH boards. There's 15 in total and they are believed to be faulty as some of the boxes contain labels with vague "workboard faulty" descriptions. Otherwise they all look brand new with not a single spec of dirt on them.

Because there's so many it's going to be a pain in the ass to test them all. Is there some Live CD I can run that will do a series of basic automated diagnostic tests to see if they have any underlying issues when they are put under load?

How can I give it back when they don't want it back? Businesses just chuck this shit out because it's costs more to test/repair them that buy a new batch from China.

Guys, did you set your diagnostic and usage data to full?

It helps Microsoft improve Windows, and deliver us a better experience.

What are you waiting for /g/?

Nigga, what? 10 was more unstable than 7 or even fucking XP for me.

Whatever they do with their data, it's clearly not used to improve their software.

Why don't they ask money for Linux distributions? If we all purchase or in the very least donate to developers, wouldn't Linux be much better? I don't get this - it's all about libre, not free as in beer, yet nobody dares to ask money for their work.

If you want help:
>Assemble parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>State the budget for your build (and country if not USA)
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
How to assemble a PC, select components & more (outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

CPUs:
No i5 unless discounted
>G4560 - poverty-tier builds
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - If you need multithreading
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage
>R7/Used Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/VM/mixed use, not for just gaming

GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - [email protected]~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - [email protected] maxed, [email protected] at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 or Vega 56 - [email protected] /[email protected] at high
>GTX 1080 - [email protected] / [email protected] maxed, [email protected] in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - [email protected] and [email protected] maxed/high in many games
>Good fucking luck even getting a VEGA right now

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits a lot from high speed RAM, 3200 MHz is ideal

General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor

Public places you use your iPad? I use mine everywhere, even when I don't need to use it.

I drove by a gas station yesterday, saw a guy in a rusty Ford pickup arguing with his girlfriend, so even though my BMW's tank was 80% full, I decided to top it off just to hear what they were fighting about. Turns out they were bickering about money problems, how she feels he needs to get a job, etc. The baby is crying in the back seat, they're wearing dirty clothes.

So I open up the door to my shiny new BMW and start pumping the gas and she looks over at me with this "I wish I was married to that guy" look and he looks over at me with this "I hate this bastard" look and I turn around, go back in the car, grab the iPad, and start using it. They stopped fighting and got silent. It was priceless. Salvation Army parking lots, WalMart eyecare centers, McDonald's drivethru windows. Everywhere is a great place to whip out the iPad.

I've got a 3G so I can understand how some of you wi-fi types likely can't relate.

Great story. I have a BMW too and a Honda Integra Type R, just for fun. I whiped my ass in money once, because bitcoins made me rich. What's the point of this? If you like to tell other people on the internet that you are rich, just do so, you do not have to make up a story. I AM RICH!

Congrats, you're already more technically inclined than 80% of people who take Computer Science. Most of them don't know how to do anything without a shiny GUI and bloated IDE, and think you need Eclipse or something in order to compile code.

how much php/python should a linux server administrator know?

if you ask because you want to work as a sysadmin you should have enough motivation for the job to google it by yourself instead of asking others...
>>

not much then, but a whole lot of bash scripting to automate processes, amirite?
>>
>>62314373
PHP not so much unless you're responsible for Web applications.
Python, Perl, bash are your admining friends...
