CPUs:

My buddy's father (pushing 65) told me that back in the day, you had to build your own pc from scratch. Soldering iron and wafers etc. He said he spent almost $2k back in the day just so he can get the fastest PC on the market with orange screen lettering rather than green.
Dunno how true it all is, but I think he still has the PC and it still boots.

So, you have probably all seen the few years old video about that spic "prodigy programmer", who dreams in code as I have seen it posted quite often as a meme. But today I checked his social media accounts and he seems to be doing pretty well, getting his PhD at age of 19 and being intern at Apple. What surprised me most, he is a Trump supporter and very pro-gun (that's not so surprising actually, considering he is living in Texas). Maybe he even posts here.
So, I must say, I was pretty skeptical when I first saw the video, but now I admit this guy is pretty admirable. He could be the next Linus Torvalds.

Will Rust replace C as the go-to low-level language for open-source projects? C++ never got traction there because open source projects are terrible at restricting themselves to language subsets. Rust doesn't have this problem, and the compile time guarentees means that it is harder to screw up by accidentally creating memory-related bugs.

My computer is a decent computer. About 2 years old and still ran good until windows ten came along and fucked me over. All I want now is either to fix these god damn performance issues or just go back to 7 safely... by safely I mean no viruses. I'm broke as shit so I'm not wasting money on a windows 7 file THAT I SHOULD ALREADY BE ABLE TO GET BACK FOR FREE. I downloaded 10 because I'm a dumbass and waited a month before I reloaded I could go back to 7 in the stupid settings. I missed my window so now I'm stuck. I've tried completely wiping my computer back to factory settings but it started back up WITH 10!! How does that make any fucking sense???? That's not factory reset! I didn't buy it with 10 installed! All this bloatware and background apps and ducking cortana are taking my processing power. My disk also has an error that makes it stay at 100% all the time now! I've tried all the solutions I could find to fix it but none worked! Of course the the disk is being normal now that I take the picture but it will pop back up to 100% in a minute or so. Aaaaaannnd the startup used to only take about 2 minutes now it takes 12!! I can't even run farcry 3 on the lowest settings over 25 frames per second. And farcry 4... you can forget it. I get 5 fps even with the resolution turned all the way down.

I have a 64bit operating system
now my computer runs like shit.. I just wish I could go back to the good ol computer days...end of story. What do I do!!!?

Hey /g/, I need help. I'm a first semester Computer Science student, and I'm at a hackathon with 3 other first semester CS students.
We need to develop something in about 20 hours that's related to "Collaboration and Communication".
We only know how to use AppInventor and basic Python.
Realistically speaking, is there anything we can do that won't make us look like morons when we go to present? Any ideas of what we can do?

The problem isn't the tools you know, but the lack of teamwork and creative brainstorming. Use the time, and brainstorm. Walk by the other tables/locations and steal ideas.
