I've been using Linux for just over a day now, and I can honestly say that this fucking piece of shit was designed for people who sit in their parent's basement.
I installed the Linux, and when I try to google how to install node.js for web development because I am a developer full stack always looking for business.
However, it says to use the apt get to get the nodejs, but when I use the apt get it says command not found. I googled and it turns out that's only for the ubuntu, but I thought they were the same.
I consider myself a pretty active cyber-aficionado, but the fact that even I could not figure out the linux really shows how it was designed for people who don't spend their time doing anything else.

I like this mouse a lot, but does anyone else have the problem where the mouse gets dirty a lot, especially where it's circled in pic related (and on the triangles on the other side also)? I saw somebody else with a 502 which wasn't dirty at all, idk if my shit is fucked up or maybe if his mouse was new or something
Don't eat at the computer, fatty.
>>60719772
No, my brother's got that mouse too. Gets dirty with dead skin there too because the texture is too rough.

wtf???
What was the internet like in the early days? I mean the early early days, like 80s and early 90s? I got my first connection the late 90s.
Lots of MIDI files and animated GIFs
Too many nerds. Glad it got to the point where everyone could connect and share ideas.
>>60719438
Well there was no google or ebay or amazon (didn't exist till (1996/7). I got my first connection in 1997 (dial-up) and web pages loaded a hell of lot faster due to lack of heavy graphics/flash shit like they are now. God how I miss those days sometimes, just click open the page and there it is. no damn flashy shit or a million fucking popups or some streaming ad for buying some junk that you don't need.
Apple's WWDC starts on Monday. Google's I/O was absolute shit and they didn't release anything good and just talked bullshit.
Will Apple release anything on Monday? What are you expecting? Anything to be excited about?
apple can't compete with google and samsung. The sooner people realize how shitty apple is the better.
>>60719216

I don't know. What do you think based on the current trend of garbage releases?
>>60719282
>apple can't compete with google and samsung
you sound incredibly stupid. ever looked at AAPL stock price?
What the FUCK happened here?
How was this so fucking bad, then they release Ryzen and it's actually pretty good.
What the fuck was this shit?
How did this even happen?

About to get my first rack server
Who and why?
>>60718946
I have an IBM tower server. It's pretty much the same as any regular computer except I had to register for a free account on their website to download BIOS and driver updates. Don't know how Dell does it, but avoid HP servers at all costs since they require a support contract to download anything from their website. I'd suggest you look at Dell's support website to see whether you need anything special to download related software and firmware.
It really doesn't matter, go with whatever brand offers the best support/warranty/features for the price.
Dell is a pretty safe bet, although I'd also recommend taking a look at Supermicro as well.

Last time I mingled with the idea of getting into private trackers what.cd was the gateway for everything, how the fuck am I supposed to get into something like GGn or UGC now? Do I really have to get into MAM, hope for an invitation to something I don't care about like AB and reach a good standing there for the small possibility of getting invited?
I do have a good standing on XWT for whatever that's worth

CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4600/G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you too lazy to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good for higher FPS; may have heat issues
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper/i9 - compute/Multitask/mixed use
Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050/Ti for low budget. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA)
>1070 - 1080p@90-144hz/1440p@100+hz
>1080 - 1080p@100-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings
>Freesync2 & Vega soon
General:
>READ PRODUCT REVIEWS to see if that cheap SSD/PSU or whatever is reliable
>Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity as a scratch disk
>Stop confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor
>mATX board + case is often cheaper

Is this a good mid-range gaming build for 1440p? My budget is about $1k.
Found a 1440p 144hz acer monitor for $400. Is the a meme monitor or worth it.
How long will it take for AND cards to sell out when Vega comes? Will Nvidia cards pretty much drop in price or have they already settled
Why do power companies measure your usage in kilowatt hours rather than joules? Joules is more straight forward.
Rounding up is profitable.
Post more frog girl pics please. I watch this show a lot and have a body pillow...

Cute frogposter.
Explain to me why running two of these as a server isn't a cheaper performance alternative to some IBM/Dell rack shit that costs $20,000?
>>60718403
No EEC.
There is no way in hell Intel is giving the Core i9 any QPI links for multi-cpu configurations.
Also the lack of ECC registered memory support isn't very ideal either, at least if you need mission critical reliability.

>My boss literally told me today I act like I don't want to be here and that I would probably never have gotten hired anywhere else so I should be happy not to be homeless.
I know that feel, I had a manager at a call center that didn't tell that to me straight to my face but was glad to make us (particularly me) feel that way.
But what can I say? I have to build a stronger portfolio and get certs if I plan on getting a better job. My github only has an app on it and while it's a cool one, it's not really anything special.
So uhhh... How will I apply thermal paste on this? pea sized still?
Pea has always been a meme
Spread thin with credit card
Is that the actual size of it?
