Where do I find good IRC channels to become a good hacker?
>>60736000
Read a book, nigger. A few books.
You aren't going to magically become a hacker by joining an IRC room.
Nobody is going to spoon feed you anyway.
>>60736000
>trips
Nice, but that still won't make me spoon feed you.
>black hat python
Might as well, I used this book to make reverse connection toolkit. I stopped reading the book and what not, but it helps, I was surprise since I had it downloaded for 3 years before reading it.
>>60736037
Dont listen to this whitefag
Best just visit torrents search ethical hacking and download em all
Make shre u do it practical
If u have a good gpu try cracking passwords
No guts? That sucks, I'll help fix that
Was a click away from getting a 1700x and an x370 gaming pro carbon when I found out the AM4 corsair brackets are out of stock. So I'm gonna have to Waitâ„¢ a little longer
Do it bruh. You won't regret it. Either that or wait for thread ripper.
>>60735875
No way, could never use that much power.
I love my 1800x build at work although I had to return the first one because it would crash anytime a put a big load on all the cores. Corsair support just sucks, they won't let me know when they will be back in stock.
>>60735900
>too much power
No such thing.
Anyone else here actually using a HEDT? If so do you plan on buying a new one soon with the two new launches?
AMD ThreadRipper vs Intel WalletRaper
I feel like intel thinks the HEDT is a "market" when in reality its a very small group of PC enthusiast who want the very best with any restrictions on the hardware.
>>60735697
i feel like at some point i might get a threadripper cause i have nothing better to spend my money on.
running an r5 1600 + r9 fury setup now.
>>60735744
If its actually only 850$ its a great price
Its basically buying two 1800x chips but with 64 lanes of PCI-E
>>60735744
>i have nothing better to spend my money on
then go intel
what is the best thing to use to watch kino on windows?
>>60735696
What the fuck is kino, and don't ever post this botnet picture again
Holy shit I forgot about gom player. It was goat back in the day. Being able to play video fragments (notably while downloading a torrent that hadn't finished but the first chunk had) man that felt good in like 2006.
>>60737734
i think it's a /tv/ thing, but i forgot what the explanation was
Hey /g/
I'm going to have my contract renewed pretty soon. I work as mobile developer. I'm currently making 2500$ per month. Should ask for a raise? I'm outsourced from Argentina to USA. How much money are you guys making? And which is your job position?
2500us in argentina?
>>60735617
Yeah, I was offered 3k for other company. But IDK if that's still low or not.
>>60735640
is that enough to survive and live comfortably in argentina?
Apologize.
>>60735497
How could anyone say something bad about him? He made the Linux kernel and is a true genius.
changing sides doesn't make him less of a shill
>>60735541
Well he hasn't written a compiler.
What is the best laptop to buy for ~$1000?
Here's a spoiler about laptops: Laptops have not gotten any better for 5-6 years.
Get a used thinkpad for a couple hundred dollars.
>>60735236
Dell XPS 13
Whichever one comes with gentoo.
Stop using systemd.
ok
stop using gahnoo slash loonix
why do we hate windows 10 again?
>>60734964
I don't.
Is there a way to use Windows 10 securely? I don't want to go back to 7 but I also don't want Microsoft to have a backdoor into my asshole.
>>60735060
Just use it. If you want to be backdoored you need Linux.

Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

>build a secondary tower out of spare parts for a very specific short lived purpose
>install windows 10 for kicks
>run some scripts and read up to disable as much of telemetry as possible
>do what I had to do and fuck around a bit before I deconstruct it
>open /g/
>immediately, some "telemetry compatibility" bullshit process starts firing up
>fan is purring like your momma last night
>all those services and registry related stuff should be disabled
>kill it and move on
How do you lads even browse 4chan with that shit blasting your fans? Does every Win10 user just spend hours and hours fiddling with the system just so it stops being a piece of shit? I did a fair bit of tweaks thinking it would be like an hour tops but I never found the end of the rabbit hole.
>>60734736
you can't disable it. You can turn off some of it, but the OS just doesn't let you kill all of it.
Don't like it, use Linux.

mfw

This is disgusting.
Are these prices for real? What the fuck happened?
>>60734533
DDR4 chips started going into phones and laptops, the demand went way up, and the prices went up accordingly.
Phones now want a shit ton of ram
cartel happened
>brought ryzen
>threadripper announced a few days later
>x299 confirmed to be a fucking shambles
Did I fire too quickly? I was buying on the user market so consider for time for parts to hit used with a lower price than retail
This is an older picture, the PC is built already.
>>60734329
>>x299 confirmed to be a fucking shambles
First I've heard of this
well youre most likley not going to benefit a whole lot from a threadripper compared to ryzen under normal work loads
>>60734329
No, because 8 cores is adequate for your purposes. If it wasn't, you wouldn't be asking that stupid question.
What kind of black magic is this?
>>60734263
Mathematical magic.
>>60734263
What do you find to be so amazing about this picture?
Looks normal to me.

the love child of a man who started publishing physics papers at age 15?
So my Western Digital My Passport 1TB USB 3 portable Hard drive appears to have suddenly gone complete failure.
Its almost four years old.
Is that a normal lifespan for one of these?
For most of that time I only plugged it in when using it.. I had it about 80% filled with CD rips in FLAC and a few DVD iso
no signs of impending failure just started the PC with the drive connected the day after I defragged it and the comuter froze.
the only thing I've been able to get to work was WD Lifeguard which said it had "too many bad sectors"
is that a hardware problem or did the defrag mess up some of the larger dvd iso maybe?
I have been unable to get any utilities to work to open, copy or check the drive.
ordered another one but just wanted to see if I am overlooking any options.
even tried the "throw it in a zip lock baggie in the freezer over night" trick...
>>60734157
Could be a problem with the board in the enclosure instead of the drive itself. Try taking it out and plugging it into a PC directly.
4 years is starting to get up there.
Aside: in my experience most people have not personally experienced a hard drive failure they're aware of. A working theory of mine is that is going to start increasing not only because over time it has to, but because the average person's storage requirements started leveling off maybe 5 years ago. In the past, people would frequently get new computers, or at least new external drives to keep up with their ever increasing amount of data. Now people use the same drives for much longer than they used to.
>>60734216
>Try taking it out and plugging it into a PC directly.
it is an external portable... it was never inside .. always only connects over the usb cord... anyway.
I ordered another one as they're much faster than the internal master boot drive.. just under $60.. never had a drive just completely fail all at once like this whatever the style .. the internal master 1TB WD I have been using much longer than four years AND I bought it used off Craigslist too so no idea how old it really is anyway.. tests fine
well if there's nothing likely to allow me to retrieve its contents I have some CD ripping in my future I guess.
>>60734370
What do you mean a 1TB external portable 'always connects over the usb cord'? I don't mean inside your PC, I mean inside the external drive enclosure that it comes in.
External hard drives are standard sata drives in enclosures that allow for a USB interface. It's not uncommon for the pcb with the usb circuitry to fail and have the HDD still be fine. Take the shell off the drive, unplug the 2.5" drive from the board it's connected to and plug it into sata power and data in your PC like any other internal drive and you can probably read the files on it. The only downside is that I think I remember reading that the firmware in the external devices is sometimes encrypted so it can't be read except with that device, but it's worth trying anyway.
Search 'WD my passport 1tb shuck' or something like that and you might find guides on how to get the drive out. It's probably kind of a pain with 2.5" externals compared to full sized ones.
