Well, shit. Looks like I have to pirate the botnet--er, Windows 8.
>>60739937
I don't think it'll help, you have to go full botnet and get Windows 10.
I could be wrong tho.
that or just install gentoo(tm)
>>60739937
>I don't think it'll help, you have to go full botnet and get Windows 10.
Fuck that. Any way I can turn this shitty notification off?

For an East Coast recent college grad with mediocre grades and a couple cool ideas, is it worth it to search for jobs in the Bay Area? Or is that meme overplayed by now, with elusive job prospects for people that aren't pooinloos, women, autistic, or summa cum laude 5.0 GPA honors students?
>>60739693
Remember the saying that D's make degrees. Your GPA doesn't really matter as long as you got your degree.
>>60739779
It's just during my sophomore or junior year or something, I got a co-op with some shitty company and quickly discovered I couldn't even build a simple switching power supply (one of the first things they asked me to do as a practice project for bigger ones). Granted I hadn't taken some of the early electrical engineering classes yet and didn't even know how a diode worked. But I feel like my education was kinda shit compared to some Stanford grad or something and I'm not sure I could do that stuff even now.
>>60739693
Why on earth would you want to live in a SJW, liberal hellhole?
I know this is a general consensus here, but I usually just blew you retards off as install gentoo memers, but...
Fuck Windows 10.
In one iteration of windows they add an intolerable amount of redundant services that will constantly run despite your futile attempts to disable them. The worst part is they EAT up your processor usage, sometimes going up to 40% for one process.
- Software protection service (always at least 10%, but usually at 20% CPU usage if you have downloaded pirated software that's trying to bypass this bullshit)
- Cortana (Extremely difficult to disable, and usually when you do you disable the windows search function, also a signifigant CPU eater (5%)
- Windows Management Instrumentation (of course this is integral to the windows system, but somehow they made it 10X WORSE in this iteration, often eating up 15+% of your CPU depending on client process errors it can't do shit about)
- The "updated" services controller app which will use up a signifigant amount of your CPU (2-5%).
- Xbox retards
- Send bill gates fucking everything aka MS Telemetry Service (also cpu eater)
- Edge aka internet explorer but slightly less retarded being classed in the fucking registry
- A whole host of other bullshit which i probably don't even know about.
How do you fuck up THIS BAD when coming out with a new operating system? On the surface Win10 seems like a paradigm shift in line with modern web design to promote simplicity and minimalism but it is anything fucking but under the hood.
Fuck this, do I go back to windows 7? I play a few vidya so I'm not sure if ubuntu would work out for me in the long run, and I'm too stupid to install gentoo.

Why OS X lack of proper virtualization?
>>60739241
What do you mean? Are you don't like VirtualBox on OSX for some reason?
Have you tried It? It works pretty flawlessly, it's just pointless
macOS works just fine in VirtualBox on a Mac running macOS itself, aside from lacking 3D acceleration.
It's not their fault if virtualization providers like Oracle deliberately provide no support for running an OS elsewhere which is restricted to run on the vendor's devices only. It's not even malevolence, it's just avoiding legal conflict with Apple in the first place.
Googling for the magic commands to emulate a real Mac is your own responsibility.

>C# is vastly superior to Java
>Java is desperately trying to implement mechanics C# had since many years
>most of them are half assed and not quite as good
>the only downside of C# - no multiplatform and lack of opensource is disappearing as we speak since they diverted most of their dev power into fixing them
>new runtime, .NET core is completely open and available at github
>tfw LINQ, delegates, properties, true generics, operator overloading & beautiful syntax
>clean and aesthetic code unlike bloated Java
>non-Microsoft, multiplatform IDE released by amazing JetBrains
Why are you not on team C# yet?
>>60739077
It's a shit.
I want something like Python but with C# tier performance and no GIL
>it's this thread again
Java's ecosystem is still superior. Try again in 5 years.

Especially for games. You want to simply Google something about old Battlefront? Fuck you, here are some kotaku bullshit stories about BF made by EA and screeching letsplayers videos. Is this deliberate?
Same goes for hardware - new ipad is new ipad, not ipad 7. Guess the next will be newest? Now you have to make sure what model number exactly they are selling to you.
Japs did this shit with mouse computers - google mouse computers and you can buy some Logitech shit.
Who the fuck has such ideas and who the fuck approves them
which one should I get? I'm thinking about getting either avast premiere or the malwarebytes pro version.

Just finished SOMA and it made me realise that you will never be able to move your conscience into a computer. It will always be a copy and you will always be stuck in your body
Great. But the rest of us have already realised that we're all copies of our past selves anyway.
>>60738937
what do you mean by past self? immediate past self or past life?
Transfer gradually and adapt. Consciousness is a pattern, and patterns can be moved as long as they aren't broken.
Also, SOMA is a glitchy ass mess.

Fo you use compression, /g/? I see no performance impact and it can save quite a lot of space. Obviously, it doesn't work on media formats, but in GIMP's case it reduced its size with 75MB from 200MB initially.
I use it selectively, for example for ISOs which sometimes contains a lot of zeroed data.
>>60738550

Good idea. I'll try on some isos too. I also use it selectively only.
