Backpack?
Messenger bag?
I need something with some type of padding or armor for my T460p. I'm asking because most manufacturers have shitty thin bags and don't even show the insides of their packs.
>Inb4 but it's a Thinkpad.
I know, but I take good care of my hardware.
>t460p
Specs?
How's the cooling?
>>60748431
>Specs?
i7 6820HQ-----16GB RAM------512GB SSD----- 940MX-----2560x1440 panel------72Whr battery
>How's the cooling?
It works very well t b h. When you put it in power saver mode, you can't hear the fans and battery life is pretty damn good if you don't push it. I haven't noticed any issues even when screwing around with games just for shits and giggles. The fan is audible during virus scans and stuff, but not too loud. The 940 is a surprisingly good card for less intensive games.

I literally just take one pen and a notebook and go to class. I'm "that guy"
Is this art or a mistake?
It's a PC case.
>>60748399
yes
it's a meme
>thinkpad retards would rather pay ~500 bucks for a 720p TN panel or even more for a 1080p screen when they could just buy a used macbook pro and get
-way higher resolution
-backlit keyboard
-a SSD
-overall better design
-a magnetic charging cable
>b-but a used thinkpad actually sells for less!
yeah you can get thinkpads for about 150~300 but that doesn't mean they won't be 720p trash without all the before mentioned functions.
I don't fucking care if you don't like OSX you can install pretty much any GNU/Linux distro on a macbook and even windows works fine on it.

So why don't most of you use Windows again?
Malware?
Spying?
Being noob friendly?
In the 1/4th the time it would take to configure Ubuntu/Arch to work properly with most hardware you could easily download a couple of tools on Windows to fix all of the privacy issues.
>BUT IT SHOULDNT BE THERE TO BEGIN WITH HURRR
Yeah and Unity shouldn't be included with Ubuntu either but people still put up with it
What's your excuse /g/? Can't you just do your work under Windows without being 500% autistic? Only reason to use Linux is on a server and that is a fact.

What will be the most in-demand programming language after 2 years?
As phones become more and more replacements for desktop PC or laptops, I imagine anything Android related or for the iPhone will continue to grow in popularity.
If you are good enough in any non meme lang then you will get work it really does not matter.
>>60748013
yes but even those platforms will change, swift/Kotlin.
There will be a programming language, that will rule mobile. One that will compile to native for both iOS and android. I feel like it might be Kotlin since they're working on exactly that. They already compile to javascript too, so mobile and web covered.
Stop naming your shitty program "foobar".

I have never understood why people like that thing so much. It's just a music player with lots of rice, what's so special? There's lots of those.

CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4600/G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you too lazy to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good for higher FPS; may have heat issues
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper/i9 - compute/Multitask/mixed use
Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050Ti for low budget. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted <$90
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA/miners buying all RX570s)
>1080 - 1080p@100-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings
>Freesync2 & Vega soon
General:
>READ PRODUCT REVIEWS to see if that cheap SSD/PSU or whatever is reliable
>Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity/scratch disk/VMs
>Stop confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor
>mATX board + case is often cheaper
>1 SR DIMM is slower than 2 DIMMs

RX580 Saphire Nitro+ 8gb
Acer XF270HU 1440p Freesync monitor
I already have SSD and Hardrive, is this a good 1440p gaymen PC? Is Freesync worth it?
>>60747898
Freesync is pretty good indeed as it ensures no tearing & smoothness even if you go below 60FPS for a short amount of time
Without Freesync it'd be either getting tearing when without v-sync, or stutter with it
My psu switch broke off and lost the spring metal that acted as jumpers. I was going to solder these two together (like in red) to keep it permanently on and then put some electrical tape or something over the hole. Not sure this is the best idea... Any advice?
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why not. Make sure it's tight! Why not use the strips of metal I assume are in the switch itself? It must be as tight as possible as any movement or fluctuation of current or phase will produce heat and that will definitely fuck shit up, possible more than the PSU
>>60747695
hold it together with candlewax

will the tech startup bubble ever pop?
>>60747553
It has to, eventually.
1 month
>>60747553
no, because nobody's buying into the them.
besides, most of them fail fast enough that a bubble can't even grow.
So, anyone here works with JPA + Spring + AngularJS?
Need to learn those things as fast as possible.
Videos, books, anything
I have some experience with Java Web and Hibernate...
>>60747287
>spring
>hibernate
Just stop anon and instead concentrate on other frameworks.Spring is a convoluted mess and ABSOLUTE shit.
Incase you want to still do it read the books Just Spring and Spring in action, spring documentation and do those tutorials on their site.
>>60747287
the only thing to learn about jpa/hibernate is to avoid it. It's fucking cancerous and does nothing but creating hard to find bugs. Sql-speaking objects or jdbi sql repositories are the way to go. Abstracting away sql to turn a db into a set of objects does not compute and destroys concepts like transactions
>>60747443
spring boot's comfy tho. Gets you set up in no time with no trouble at all. This project I have in it is the easiest of the bunch despite being as complex as the rest of them.
But /g/ told me VR was the future!
>>60747093
No I didn't. I told you from the start the 3d has always been a gimmick doomed to failure because people can't fucking stand to put on a pair of glasses when they play games, let alone strapping a backback to their face.
>>60747093
It fucking flopped because it's shit. It's just a screen really close to your eyes, not even remotely VR.
>>60747093
current VR tech is just like pdas it's just isn't good.

Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.
