Hey guys, I sold my R9 290 for $285 on eBay, which is fucking insane to me, but I digress...
I have a 1080p monitor clocked at 60Hz
I will have around $240 dollars for a new GPU when everything is finalized.
I found a GTX 980 ti for $250 but I'm wondering if my i5 4670 might bottleneck it a bit and if I should grab a GTX 980 for $100 or so less and just use the extra on other shit.
The 980ti would be great to have if I make the jump to 1440p, but if my i5 is going to fuck it I may as well stick with a 980. Any help is appreciated, friendos.
I sold my 390x for $380, bought it for $310.
first off, please refer to >>/sqt/ for this.
second, it will work, 1080p 60fps is a piece of cake, and that CPU should also be able to play on 1440p. But imho if the 980 is less than half the price, save the money and use it on some other shit.
with this shit all said... SAGE

If you're going to make a jump to 1440p you might save money going with a GTX 1070. 1080Ti if you want 4K. I personally use an overclocked 1060 for 1080p and I rarely ever have any problems, but I've heard the RX580 8GB outperforms it.
tl;dr
1080p - RX 580 8GB
1440p - GTX 1070
4K - GTX 1080Ti
does /g/ still have people with actual knowledge? I want to start buying up raspis/similar to use as 1. vpn endpoints for myself and 2. seedboxes. What are the most successful strategies for installing them unbeknownst to business/property owners? Given enough time I could unscrew an electrical faceplate, splice in an a/c adapter, and shove a raspi behind the drywall. How would you go about doing it in a quicker deploy situation? unscrew a lightbulb and connect it in through a split adapter? With the right software the whole thing should cost $20-$30, I want to hijack other people's ips

Are hybrids the future?

Hybrids were the future in 2012 too!
You are now in charge of picking a less shitty mascot and logo for Linux.
I found an IPhone laying on the ground, it was locked and I couldn't open it so I threw it into a stormdrain. Can they find my prints on the thing or will it be too wet?
>>60905436
nobody is going to bother to dust for prints unless the owner turns up dead; even then, what are the odds anyone even finds the phone?
>>60905472
Well I hear you can find Iphones even when they're turned off but I figured since I threw it into a stormdrain it would get wet and therefore no prints.

Would be hilarious for Intel to stop sending him samples after seeing this.

I just watched it and knew it was going to be posted here. It was pretty dumb to do from a business perspective but from an actual creator and someone who doesn't want his fans to be screwed over it was great.
what's so great about WebAssembly, exactly?
If I understand correctly it just allows you to write other languages for the web and then "compile" it
Won't people just make frameworks for the web in whatever language? Isn't that the entire point of javascript to be a framework for the web?
>>60905150
A lot of the hype for it is that it's not Javascript, and frankly that alone is more than sufficient cause.
i bet stallman's ecstatic. no more nonfree js
What's stopping future web developers and site owners from redesigning their websites as WASM binary "clients" that connect to a server in order to render websites?
This would let them block unsavory actions, like saving images, right clicking, copy/paste, and they could embed ads in the "client" to thwart adblocking, and even run bitcoin miners in order to make money off of every single user visiting their site.
What are we supposed to do now? Is the dream over?

I've been cheating on you with gnu/Linux, or as I've resently taken to calling it, gnu+plus Linux. actually, several distros. I've decided there is nothing wrong with polyamory. the truth is that gnu/Linux leaves a lot to be desired, and windows can not be trusted. however each of you play an important part in my life, so I have, and continue to adapt as the world around us crumbles.
Sorry but I tapped into the black meat and I cannot go back to you.

It's 2017 and 4chan still doesn't redirect to https.
Who gives a shit? 4chan isn't going to be redirecting to any website where SSL is needed.
NSA pays hiroshima to keep it plaintext.
It's not like redirecting to https even matters with attacks like sslstrip. If you don't make the initial connection through https, your an idiot.
So hey /g/ friend gave me this strange looking USB drive, not sure where it came from as he never told me, I'm not too great with technology so I'm wondering if anyone here can help me out.
