I always wondered why you were all elitist cunts about doing every thing in the the terminal, But I just started using vim and WOW is it great, planning on moving to i3wm or rat poison in the next month and plan on moving to ranger for file manager and learning latex. Vim beats the shit out of notepad++. P.S all I do is HTML, learnt a bit of python but forgot it because of a cerebrovascular accident so will be learning it again. Thank you /g/ don;t know why you haven't ever convinced me of a bad choice.(moving to linux, quiting most games, buying an old think pad)
Nice blog.

Fucking priceless. This shitty company deserved it. Feel bad for the scapegoat sysadmin, though.
Hey if it works fine don't mess with it.
Until it doesn't.
>>60720727
It more than just that in this case. Management is blaming a single sysadmin even though there are clear infrastructure problems including outsourcing to India. If it were any good this couldn't have happened because of a simple mistake.
>>60720805
>mistake
From what I've read, it wasn't.
Most likely they are trying to shift the blame to some upset employee that was laid off or near fired.

nice dubs
"#init 6"
means running "init 6" from a root shell, which switches the system to runlevel 6, aka reboot
the text on the right is likely meant to be the mess that is that machine booting up
Has technology gone too far?

Actually it's cutie

Everyone in my university calls it cutie, but they stress the second syllable.
I need something that will play music stored on my network hard-drive in my living room. Something cheap and easy with a good interface - not some cheesy interface like the PS3 etc.
I know a lot of people have been going to HTPC's for years, but I'd like something simple, small, and low power consumption. I have a Roku and the file player sucks balls. I've never used Apple TV or the like. I'd like something with a nice professional interface that will let me play different folders, playlists, files, save favorites, etc.
I used to have friends who knew all about tech and kept me in the loop, but I don't anymore, so I thought I'd ask here. Again, I'm looking for something "lightweight".
I'm reading now on using the PS3 to connect to a NAS, but the interface is just so clunky.
Anything out there kinda like Itunes or something that I can install on a PS3 or hardware I can buy cheaply?
Checking out QNAP for Roku now.
Anyone have anything?

Well done sir.
Before I begin with this post I want to make the disclaimer that I am doing this for a good friend of mine who is in a rather desperate situation. This is not some elaborate joke or hoax to entertain yourselves with. Only serious inquiries for assistance will be fueled and done so privately. The following is the verbatim request of his: "I have been working far undercover for around three years with a business associate and mentor of mine who recently went missing. He is a high ranking member of an inner circle fraternity and has been involved in their hidden networks and I have directly coordinated efforts with him and been his confidante for the same three year duration. In March we were supposed to depart for Southern California so that I could be the CFO of his arms trading corporation and for our debriefing we were to receive for the actual activities we would be involved in. I was notified of this the last time we spoke which was roughly around March 5th. Three days later his phone was completely cut off and he went dark without giving me prior notice. Members of his fraternity refused to give me information and channels through law enforcement have, of course, proven to be nil and useless. I had an associate, with help of people he met through the web, track his whereabouts to the old R&D area in Death Valley, which was the area he had told me he and I would be for our debriefing. I was recently laid off from my job (my instincts tell me it was sabotage having to due with all of this) and other than going completely dark and vanishing myself, have exhausted my resources. I have turned to you because he has conducted activities in the hacker/cyber community before (Anon, etc) and it's of utmost importance that he and I re-establish communications so I can have a decent framework to work with and follow pertaining to what lies next for both him and myself."
P.S. Enjoy the picture of this Shy Guy waving.
what was the question again?

I am looking for someone to assist me in tracking down a colleague who went missing.
