Does anyone wish that Microsoft had forked Firefox, instead?

Is it even possible for Microsoft to just take over Firefox while Mozilla just fades away?

...no, though I wish they didn't take a bunch of good UI shit from 11 out for whatever reason. Nothing special about FF anymore

Hey /g/uys, wondering if anyone could offer some help with home networks.

Basically, I have a fairly crappy ISP - around 30mb/s. It's ok but I need to make the most of it. I want to have a powerline adapter to take the signal from my router, which is downstairs, all the way to my attic. From here I want the other powerline adapter to both clone the wifi signal and offer an ethernet connection, with minimal loss to my speeds.

My questions are as follows:

a) will running a powerline adapter straight into my computer via ethernet run the risk of damaging the mobo?

b) will surge protected outlets offer protection to the mobo? What kind of impediment to speeds are we looking at because of the surge protection?

Sorry if these are basic bitch questions but I figured this would be a good place to get some solid advice.

Thanks in advance

What happened in the last 10 years? Might not be a completely fair comparison if you think about the added features, but still.

Neww drivers now are mostly bugfixes for AAA games.
>>
>>60830578
Shouldn't it just werk without specific profiles for each game?

Ain't that the point of standards?
>>
>>60830607
I think someone at Nvidia mentioned pretty much 0% of games just werk or follow any sort of standards, and it's only because of Nvidia and AMD drivers that most games are even playable.

Why are i7s not considered 8 core processors even though windows treats them as such?

Didn't AMD basically do the same with their FX-series? They weren't real cores but people still talk about the FX8350 for example as a octa core...

>>
There's no standard definition of a CPU 'core', in loose terms a core is a unit that can do integer and/or floating point operations, how it does that is and at what speed is a different issue.
>>
>>60830415
The FX CPUs where 8 physical cores sharing a FPU.
SMT is just running multi threads on a single core in order to keep the CPU from wasting cycles.
>>
>>60830415
>but people still talk about the FX8350 for example as a octa core.

The FX8350 is 4 core with 2 modules per core.

The i7's are 4 core with hyper threading.

The FX8350 modules are more akin to real cores, than the hardware needed for hyperthreading, while both are similar, the FX8350 is much closer to a true 8 core design because it has two modules per core, and each module itself is 90% of a CPU core.

if macs aren't the best computer why does both the personal envoy of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior AND his enemy Satan's highest atheist dark templar of science BOTH use them?

Bill Nye is a brainlet though.
>>
>>60830379
Because
a) Windows is shit;
b) they don't know how to use a computer; and
c) they can afford a Macintosh

so they believe a Macintosh is quality.

The 1600x does not come with a CPU cooler, so you'll need one of those (unless you end up getting a 1600 instead). Also if nobody else replies to your thread ask/post a pcpartpicker list in the /pcbg/ thread.
>>
>>60830128
already have the cooler covered, just dont need to buy one; good catch tho. and i may tnks anon

I would recommend trying to make a schedule to allocate your time. Since you only have 48 you shouldn't make anything too ambitious as you also need to factor in time for polishing the game.

So, i found a Logitech g900 for around 950 swedish crowns (about 95 euros). Do you guys think it is worth the purchase? The mouse I'm using now is a g502 proteus core, but it's very worn out. The left click doesn't work some times.

it's driver free, has a good range of dpi, the input lag is basically the same as many wired mice, only downside would be the cost obviously and the lack of the customization software on linux

>As it appears, that adapter will have a 384-bit memory bus and will thus support memory bandwidth upwards of 768 GB/s.

GDDR6 gives 768GB/s of memory bandwidth and is a hell a lot easier to yield than TSVs in HBM2

I don't know how many of you vir/g/ins will be willing to lend a hand with this, but basically a dirty polish nigger who claimed to be a gardener robbed about £2000 from one of my colleagues parents, on top of that he nicked about £500 from my mates room. He has no evidence on this but he's polish, so he has no boundaries as to how low he can go. From what we've digged up on him it was a fake name and he's not registered to vote in the UK but we do have his mobile number, I need to know if there are any fairly simple methods for tracking mobile phone numbers (we figured if he spends a few nights in one particular spot chances are it's his house and we'll probably go club his head in). Anyway sorry if sounds a little autistic I'm feeling it.
