>AMD and Asus announced their first laptop with desktop grade Ryzen 7
My current laptop has served me well for almost a decade, the issues it has now I can only attribute to hardware degradation, it'll be a waste of time and money to get it fixed at this point.
I'm looking for a laptop with a full size CPU, the Clevo P750DM2 seems like the best choice for now, but I'm stuck with Intel.
Ryzen is objectively better for my use, I'm not much of a gaymer, and the lower power usage and better thermals make it an infinitely better CPU for a laptop over the i7 7700k.
My question here is, will I be falling into a value trap by waiting for a good Ryzen laptop? I definetly won't be buying the Asus, I've had bad experiences with their quality and customer support. How long will it take for Sager/Clevo to come out with a Ryzen?
I'm a programmer who works under contract, a better system will let me take on more projects and earn better in the process, will it genuinely be worth waiting?

DOA
When will laptop manufacturers not make gaudy ass shit like this

can't you change the backlight to simple white?
>install some Autodesk software
>now it eats up 50% of my CPU, 100% of the time, with a bunch of self-restarting processes

did you pirate it? you could be running a miner virus

that reminds me, I saw this ad the other day for autocad
That dumbshit company has the audacity to ask for $120 a month for a personal license of autocad

This. Or just reinventing something (like an imageboard software, everyone's first project)
>>61069958
The best way to learn python is to already know python apparently
Alright, I just got fucked by a power outage in my house due to lighting/thunder (whichever one it is that causes this shit to happen) and my graphics card somehow got fried by it and everything else is fine.
What's a good replacement for a gtx 970? it's a gigabyte model and apparently they have some warranty. if that doesn't go through I'll definitely need a new card, what's a good replacement with consideration for the horrible markups due to cryptocurrency miners?
The processor it's paired with is a i7 4790k and I do game a bit and due video editing. Should I just grab another 970 or go for something new?
I'm still butthurt.
>>61069791
Kinda sucks bro because it's a terrible, terrible time to buy a GPU.
forget about the graphics card for now, get yourself a surge protector... but you can get a 980 ti for as low as 300 these days. although I heard 1060 still beats it in some areas.
>>61069804
I know man, it makes it that much worse.
I'm considering grabbing a really cheap 1050.

Nice penguin.
Give me a headphone that will stop me from using my speakers all the time.
someone needs to make an app that can scan a pdf and translate it, and then produce a translated pdf.
so I can read manga with out having to wait for them to be properly translated or scanlated.
>>61068408
I tried to use that thing to translate some porn captions, everything from german to japanese.. Every translate sucked and I couldnt figure out what they were actually saying.
you're going to have to wait for machine translation to get better. at least the scanning part is decent these days.
>>61068408
google used to be able to search and translate pictures from your camera
that was 2013 though, with a better phone and later software i can no longer do it...
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good.
>>61067846
it's very good.

went back to firefox because it doesn't have plugin support.

Background: I want a Ryzen system for gaming and also for acting as an Openstack VM server. Therefore, I want it to run both Centos and Windows, possibly Ubuntu, Arch and others.
Problem: Because Microsoft is run by assholes, they force to update Windows 10 when they say. When the upgrade happens it wipes out the Grub boot loader. Therefore, I would like to avoid dual booting.
Proposed solution: Build a OS image server and network book the Ryzen system off of the Network server. The Ryzen system itself would have no OS installed thus allowing me to boot to whatever OS I want whenever I want.
Is this a practical solution?
I have a Raspberry Pi that can run as a PXE server/Clonezilla server. However, this has only been use to install operating systems not to server the OS to another system.
1. Project FOG would be a good server system to use.
2. It would be easier to just partition drives or get several drives to boot from instead of imaging at every boot. Imaging takes forever, especially if you don't have amazing internet speeds and an SSD (which you would kill with the constant writing anyway)
>>61067281
>I want a Ryzen system
your fisrt mistake
>>61067281
You could just run windows in a VM and passthrough the hardware it needs.
Remind me again why Yandex browser isn't the best browser for Android?

It's a good browser.

Ive been looking around for a machine that draw for you automatically given that you provide it with a countour/outline
All i can find is that it's called a Writing and Drawing Machine and the pic is for one that cost ~500$ but it seem small and hold a sharpie
Is there another word or terms that designate a machine in question so i could find more about it.
I would need one that can trace on 1 feet by 1 feet and could hold a dremel/engraving tool to trace acrylic.
Plotter. It would be nice to have a little desktop one but they're expensive as fuck
>>61067173
Plotter. thank you, at least now amazon give me some results that make sense
found one for ~300$.... idk if i can instal a vibrating-tool on it without damaging the machine or putting it out of allignment
You could probably DIY it
Hello /g/, im not the best at computers but when i bought a chromebook they told me it would be almost impossible to get a virus.
However now all over google i get these weird russian adverts. Is this a virus?
Also when i click on some links, like when i clicked start a new a thread to make this, it took me to a porn site and i had to try again. Is there a way to fix these issues. Am i asking in the right place?

its on other pages too. I dont know why it thinks im russian. im from the uk
>>61066982
ok thanks, is that dangerous at all?
I have seen posts using to following phrase to point towards hypocrisy:
>Lol, this guys whines about Windows 10 spying them but they use Android.
However at least in my case i don't see hypocrisy, allow me to explain:
For most of the years of my life i used windows because it was the only one i knew how to use and because i genuinely liked it. Around 2010 i started to experiment with Linux (Ubuntu) and i started to genuinely like it more, it grew on me and started to dual boot but i didn't considered it a viable alternative so i continued using windows 60% of the time. When Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was released (well, actually 6 month later because i wait a bit for new LTS releases to be stabilized) i installed it and all my past problems, except for a pair of programs that was windows-only was no more and i started to use it 80% of the time. Eventually i knew more programs that can replace the ones i used on windows and i started to dislike microsoft policies. So we can say that around in 2012 i out windows in a list of software "to be replaced".
At the moment when i genuinely like Android but i think Google's policies are bullshit too and i want to replace it with something more respectful. If eventually a new mobile OS that is more respectful and as viable and android arises will switch immediately. You even if i use Linux and android at the same time and i care about my privacy, i'm using the same criteria as with Windows. If Linux weren't a viable alternative for me i would be using windows, simple as that, sadly for MS now it is and the same can eventually happen to Android. it's just like picking the best fruits at the market.
Thoughts?
I agree for the most part. I would love to go full open source with LineageOS and fdroid on my phone but I can't escape from Snapchat and it doesnt work with microg so I can't even go no google services.
Sucks that I have people that actively want to socialize with me through a shitty service.
>>61066850
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
