Tech illiterate friends keep asking me to install Windows. It happens weekly basically.
I wonder if I install zorin and chrome and say it's Windows 9 how long will it take until they catch on to me?
Also any other advice on making it seem more like Windows?
>>61086718
They'll notice as soon as they try to install Microsoft Office or any other basic Windows program.
>>61086718
Just keep them out of Linux. We are full of retards already, they're on Ubuntu and Arch forums.
>>61086844
It comes built in with wine
Ideally it would be GNU as in gahnoo, and ideally it would use something like PGP encryption. I suppose some table thing would work.
just use a pgp encrypted textfile
>>61086623
I've been using Keepass for a long time. It seems fine but I don't know or care a whole lot about security. Good features and such and it's easy to keep backed up everywhere.
>>61086623
I use kwallet.
Are there any python libraries that can detect blacks in photos or at least separate by ethnicity?
Pic related is what I want: detect blacks and provide the confidence in its prediction.
I'll be honest - I'm working on a plugin for my camera system

can clearly tell the support guy is not pajeet, fake/10
>>61086536
I want to know, did he talk to the supervisor or not?
That would have been more entertaining.
Grilling the tech support scammers isn't that interesting. Lots of people have done it in different ways, if he actually got to talk to the supervisor it would have been interesting.
This is a great video.

>Here’s why Microsoft disables third-party antivirus in Windows 10 Creators Update
http://windowsreport.com/creators-update-antivirus/
https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/24/15867350/microsoft-windows-10-source-code-leak
>While The Register claims 32TB of data, including unreleased Windows builds, has been leaked, The Verge understands most of the collection has been available for months, or even years. The Register also claims the source code leak is bigger than the Windows 2000 leak from 2004, but The Verge understands this is inaccurate and that the Windows 10 source code leak is relatively minor.
Did anyone learn anything from this?
https://www.extremetech.com/computing/251394-next-windows-10-update-will-add-gpu-performance-tracking-xbox-live-network-support
>For the Task Manager fans out there, we’re happy to share that we’ve heard your feedback and we’ve updated Task Manager to now include GPU info… The Performance tab shows GPU utilization information for each separate GPU component (such as 3D and Video encode/decode), as well as graphics memory usage stats. The Details tab shows you GPU utilization info for each process.
>Ideally, Microsoft won’t just add the ability to monitor the GPU’s activity. While we may not use it often, we’d love to have the option to kill frozen processes running on the GPU in the same way one can kill a frozen desktop application. It’d also be great if Windows users could set application priority when running multiple applications that are capable of using the GPU at the same time. We’re a long way from being able to set per-core or per-cluster affinity levels, but it’d be great to use Handbrake for some GPU-assisted encoding at background priority while still playing a game.

>Networking latency and ping; Microsoft is also making some changes to how it reports network latency and ping times, at least when you’re using Xbox Live
>“Here, we’ll help you attempt to identify and resolve issues preventing you from using voice chatting and playing multiplayer games with other Xbox Live users.”
> They include various Edge improvements, new Emoji, and updated OneDrive support. There will also be shape writing support for multiple new languages, better language support for text prediction, touch keyboard support for East Asian languages, and various refinements to the handwriting system and pen support.

BETTER CONTROL OVER UPDATES AND PRIVACY,
>One of the smaller changes in Windows 10 Creators Update will have a big impact for those wishing to better control updates. You can now pause updates for a week, or configure active hours in Windows 10 for up to 18 hours a day.
>Microsoft is also tweaking its privacy controls in Windows 10 Creators Update. You’ll be prompted to review and configure features like , and relevant ads. It’s part of Microsoft attempts to be more transparent, and a response to some widespread criticism over Windows 10’s privacy controls
So basically they're are atleast trying to giving users the illusion that they actully in control of their system.
Now that you can block them from taking your data like diagnostics, speech recognition and location. Don't be surprised if after an update or restarting you PC the survellience wont begin again.
All hail Microsoft,
For creating Windows which peers into our lives

Well? What can it be used for?
I'm not a company, I don't have to sort through emails and shit, is it actually practical from a hobbyist standpoint?

Looking for mouse recommendations. Owned my Logitech G5 for a decade now and love it to bits, but it's getting pretty gross looking. My criteria are:
Laser
Wired
Not ricey
Ideally $60US or under but if it's as good as the G5 I'm gonna own it for a long ass time so budget can be stretched

The 3366 has zero acceleration in the G900 and G403, and is precise as fuck.
Stewie2K has used the wireless G403 in recent CS:GO tournaments.
Heyo I thought I would reach out to the 4chan community. I'm currently studying Computer Engineering at University. I've been so wrapped up in study that I haven't taken much time to reflect on what future career options may be out there. I was hoping anyone who works in the industry could give me advice on what I should look into, what companies maybe hiring or, any interesting resources I can use to stay in the loop. Anyway, I'm hoping to start an informal discussion about and advancements that are changing the field. At the moment, machine learning seems pretty hot, people can't seem to stop talking about it. But there has to be more than just VLSI and machine learning to computer engineering.
Design verification, Physical design, logic design. Those are all quality fields in most if not all hardware companies.
Machine learning has some questionable applications. It will certainly be used,ut those making money or developing it will be PHD students and CEOs.
Try to find what you want to specialize in. Hardware isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
I myself am in verif. Lots of things to learn, and it's very stable.

Thanks! at the moment I'm involved with some research at my school. Next semester I'm taking a class in Image processing. It may be a little bit more EE, but I have a feeling I may be looking at a career in either medical or military areas. i guess I'm looking at things in very broad strokes at the moment. How did you decide in what you wanted to specialize in?
Computer engineer here. It's really important for you to get internships. That matters a lot more than your GPA if your plan is to get a Bachelor's then find a really good job. Don't feel you need to stick to one particular industry. I've designed everything from medical imaging equipment to karaoke machines and military equipment.
I also saw a lot of my classmates make the mistake of only applying for internships or jobs at the big companies that recruited on campus: IBM, Apple, Microsoft etc, then giving up when they got no offers. There's tens of thousands smaller lesser known companies too.

Guys, I need some help. I'm looking for the startup sound that came on computers bought from stupidpc.com, from way back in the 90's. The company was in Atlanta, GA but they don't exist anymore. I've found the website on the wayback machine, but they don't have the wav files on there.
