How likely is it I'll brick the board?

Depends on what recovery features the mobo has. That being said, there's no reason not to flash from the UEFI itself with the file on a flash drive and ideally with the computer plugged into an UPS.
>>61108680
> with the computer plugged into an UPS
This is all you really need to worry about OP, a power outtage is all that could really fuck you there.

Why would you ever need to update your BIOS?
We are getting a new tax in Sweden on white goods and electronics. The tax is there to get people to purchase more environmental friendly products without fire protecting chemicals in them, or other less harmful chemicals in them.
The tax will be calculated on weight and will be 0.8€ per kilo on white goods and 12€ per kilo on electronics, up to a maximum of 40€ per product.
Does any other country have something like this? Do you think it is a good idea?

Works on my machine. Gentoo on an SSD with OpenRC boots up in just under 6 seconds. Would probably boot faster with systemD, but fuck systemD.

Ok first of all I realise i'm out of my depth on this board.
I have the opportunity to study a ba in Information Technology which would then be centred on on a focus. I could possibly do a MA.
Computer Science is not really an option right now.
So basically i'm just your average joe when it comes to computers and technology. The one thing is I have a great interest and desire to learn and self educate.
I have been using apple computer my whole life.
So with all this information in mind what would your advice be to a noob like me. Where should I start and what tools should I use to become as technologically literate and be the best I can be.
Oh I forgot to mention the BA would be tuition free.
you can choose to specialise in management, databases, programming, web applications, technical computing

tbqh if you just look up words you don't understand you will be above average in no time
also you could
> read (enterprise) IT news websites regularly
> learn basic programming
> learn basic admin tasks

Bullshit.
I always get iPhones and I skip every other update.
I'm on 6s right now running iOS 11 Beta 2 and it's still kicking.
I will definitely get the 8.
>>61108286
They always do that. It's well documented too. It's a psychological thing because you like the phone do you, but then it slows down and coincidently a new one is released.
So to get "better speeds" buy the new one.
>>61108286
that's what you get for buying anything that isn't a xiaomi
Are there any websites online with the aesthetic of a '90s OS?

OS/2, the operating system of the future. Technically it wasn't that bad (especially for that time) but as usual business factors sunk it.

Get a 1050 Ti
Wait for them to start selling if you don't mind a used card. ETH is almost out of the GPU mining stage and other coins aren't as profitable. Or stop being poor and get a 1080.
>>61108438
1080's also have inflated prices because that's the only GPU that you can buy
Is Windows XP even safe anymore because of the NSA exploit leak? What do I do? Is Win2k safe? Hold me /g/
It's time for you to get with the time and move on to Win7.

Hi,
Which browsers does /g/ use?
I am looking for the best browser
Preferable traits:
-simplistic
-fast
-doesn't destroy your RAM
-good privacy settings (similar to TOR)

I've used Nightly before. But the constant update are annoying.
>>61108213
Who's forcing you to update all the time? Just do it once a week or something.
