Hahahahahaha, so that's the power of a Chinese phone shilled by Indians.

LG BTFO, OP5 CAN BOOTLOOP AT 120FPS WITH 8GB OF RAM!
>"One of the affected people reports to us:
I've ordered my OP5 on Monday(26.06), it got delivered to me on Thursday(29.06), it worked fine for just 2 days. Today when i woke up i realised my alarm didn't go off and the phone was basically dead, I had to hard reboot it. It worked for like 2 hours then it kept reebooting itself every 1-2 minutes, and now it doesn't work at all. I've tried pressing power button for over 30 seconds, combining that with volume buttons but no effect. When the phone died finally the battery had like 80% charge, connecting the phone to charger changes nothing. Im running latest OxygenOS, no root.
Here's a video I've sent to OP support:
https://youtu.be/aEIoND_86ZM
I switched from iPhone 6s+ because i got bored of iOS, I guess the right choice is to wait for new iPhone or just straight buy lagged Samsung S8.
The customer service told me this isn't covered by neither of both warranties (the free one or the pay one) and that I will need to pay the mail service to china to have them diagnosed plus the repair service.
Never jiggle settle."
>OnePlus deleted the tweet that said they would release an update to fix the jelly scrolling.
See for yourself: https://twitter.com/OnePlus_Support/status/880666443314057216
I knew this would happen, here's a screenshot of said conversation: http://imgur.com/a/43DjL
They then sent me the official statement about the jelly scrolling being natural and stuff. http://imgur.com/a/mRpiA
Someone high up must have told them to delete their tweet. We all know what this means, my OP5 is going back on monday.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
>OnePlus is once again misleading customers
The OnePlus 5 went on sale in India and other global markets earlier this week, and the brand promptly announced two days after sales kicked off that the device was the highest-grossing phone on Amazon India during a launch week.
As a result, Amazon announced that it was extending its SBI cashback offer — which sees SBI credit and debit card holders receiving a ₹1,500 cashback on the phone — until July 2. OnePlus is now touting the extension of the cashback offer via a text message that's going to everyone who registered an interest in its latest phone, which according to Amazon is over 1 million people. Conveniently, the company removed the "at launch" reference from the message, making it seem like the OnePlus 5 is the highest-grossing phone ever.

How do I even Google such a problem?
>>61189147
Boot is verbose mode if it gets stuck it should show where it gets stuck
Press DELETE during the booting phase, when the logo is displayed. Should switch to a generic terminal that shows the boot process (see image). Take a screenshot when it gets stuck.
>>61189147
Press any key during boot to show the verbose mode
What distro are you running and why isn't it pic related?
Arch is fucking shit.
Mint, xfce flavour.
none, linux is poop
Hello /g/. I was thinking about switching over to an Intel processor to go with my EVGA GTX 1080 FTW. I currently have an AMD FX 9590 right now. I want to switch but I am not sure what processor to choose. My computer is strictly for gaming and I'm looking for a processor to match. Most of Intel's CPU's are way too overpriced in my opinion ($300 minimum) and the new AMD Ryzens are priced even more. Is there a good i5 or i7 that is not very expensive and won't bottleneck my gpu? Or should I just keep the processor I have now?

Ryzen 5 1600
>>61189046
1600 or 1600X is the way to go. 1600 if you want to OC, 1600X if you don't want to bother with OC.
>>61189046
get an i5 if you only game.
If you need some future-proofing then get a Ryzen 7 1700 and OC.

Will GPGPUs (compute cards) ever replace x86_64 do desktop use?
No.
gpgpus don't implement precise exceptions, so they will never replace microprocessors.
however, we will probably have better software in the future that offloads some computations from cpu to gpu, and not just specialized science/engineering stuff.
not but RISC-V will

I'm looking to get a VPN for an extra layer of security when I torrent. I heard NordVPN is pretty good and they have a deal going where it's $80/2 years. I was also looking at PIA and they seemed good too. Best VPNs thread.
I use TorGuard, pretty good VPN. 5 simultaneous connections + proxies.
i use garnier fructis.
ovpn and mullvad are neat
used ovpn before the price hike, mullvad is fast and i think owned or created by someone from tpb creators

CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - Decent but up to 1600 if you can
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; 1600x if you want higher stock clocks
>i7 7700k - only for 144hz
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming
GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games
RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits from high speed RAM
General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
The Ryzen lineup comes with exceptionally good stock coolers. (with the exception of the 1600X) consider using them over any sub 35USD cooler.
why r5 not i3 i5 i7?
>>61188057
Ryzen offers considerably better price vs performance - especially given you don't need x370 to overclock.
>>61188057
i3 is overpriced, the Hyperthreaded Pentiums are essentially the exact same thing except they are slightly lower clocked (providing the same performance for much less)
i5 are meh at AAA gaming compared to an R5 1500x or 1600, as the fact that they have only 4 threads cripple them in any CPU-intensive games. They also offer much worse multi-threaded performance (multitasking, some productivity stuff, streaming / recording through CPU), and are all locked (with the exception of the 7600k)
i7 (7700k) is good but a waste of money if you don't have a high refresh rate screen & beefy GPU to go along. Other i7 (6+ cores ones) also are very, very overpriced compared to the R5 1600 & 1700 (which offer close / identical performance for much lower in multithreaded tasks). Skylake-X is pricey as fuck too mainly because of the motherboard.
So it makes sense in some cases, but not always.

Why don't people encrypt their system... twice?
So I run LineageOS without gApps. Some apps of course say they need Google Play Services to function. But I recently downloaded Protonmail mobile app through Yalp store and it works fine besides the initial popup message saying I need Play Services.
My questions is are all of these apps just saying they need Google Play Services or what? I'm about to open a Schwab checking account and I need the mobile app to work for depositing checks and stuff.
Does my internet speed increases if i buy more wifi router?
Give ONE reason for having SSD (not even talking about HDDs, it's 2017 for God's sake) over 256GB in the age of streaming and cloud storages.
