Der8auer update the vrm disaster video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89Tgazt8v5Y

Highlights
>7900x @4.5 ghz P95 reaching 500W
>Some ppl arent reaching throttling because "intel bios settings" (Power draw) limits current to intel defaults, hence leading to cpu limited performance
>Once current limit is removed, cpu can achieve expected gaming and benchmark results, however temps and power gone over the roof

Fucking 4.5Ghz 1.25 reaching 500W? Wtf we need those 1.5KW psus

>Considering the power consumption of an overclocked 7900X, the VRM issues shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
>
>Hardware.fr recorded following VRIn powers on a 7900X, during Prime95 (28.10):
>
>4.0GHz = 158.0W
>4.1GHz = 177.6W
>4.3GHz = 212.4W
>4.4GHz = 240.1W
>4.5GHz = 265.2W
>4.6GHz = 308.4W
>4.7GHz = 362.8W
>
>At 4.3GHz even the most efficient VRMs will be dissipating < 32W of power and at 4.7GHz > 54W.
>There is no way you can dissipate such amount of heat with the standard sized VRM heatsink, without a serious direct airflow to it.
>Beyond 300W you don't want to use a single EPS12V connector either.
>>
>>61239537
As Der8bauer stated, you get micro throttling that even cpuz cant record, you need like hwinfo to show throttling flags.
Its incredible how much this arch is flawed. Performance isnt that much better than BW-E, and you have over the roof power vs BW-E, that was crap but at least was much better on thermals and consumption.

Intel deliberately raised the frequencies, removed solder and partner made shitty heatsinks, and the "solution" was to cap current on bios. What a joke

Fuck anime faggots, reposting

for(unsigned long i = 1; i <= LONG_MAX; i <<= 1){
int clz = __builtin_clz(i) + __builtin_clz(i - 1);
printf("%lu: %i\n", i, clz);
}

for(unsigned long i = 1; i <= LONG_MAX; i <<= 1){
int clz = __builtin_clz(i)
clz += __builtin_clz(i - 1);
printf("%lu: %i\n", i, clz);
}

Can anyone compile this code and try it? I think I'm going crazy, I get 2 different outputs, can anyone explain? No optimizations applied, gcc (Ubuntu 6.3.0-12ubuntu2) 6.3.0 20170406.

What hard drives do you guys get nowadays? I'm looking at 8TB Seagate Enterprise or 8TB Seagate Barracuda Pro because it comes with five years warranty. Usually when a company offers that many years, it means they're confident in the product. I heard thes drives come with something called SMR and aggressive head parking, anyone with these two drives can confirm that?

I'm also looking at Deskstar but I don't know if NAS drives are meant for normal PC single drive storage.

Trying to fill my home server with some cheap ass NAS drives and I havent trusted Seagate since a terrible incident in 2009-2011 with one of their drives

I just want some cheap as fuck space man
>>
Shuck the 8tb WD easy stores from bestbuy.
>>
Intuitively I propotion that if a drive has an insane amount of space like 8 or 10 tb then it is that much more sensitive to corruption.
Am I right in feeling that because it's one of the only things keeping me away from getting a single 10tb drive vs splitting that 10 across several smaller 2 or 3 tb ones

Just got back from a 2-week vacation, and pic related was waiting for me. I've ordered it the day before I left for St. Lucia.

Fully loaded. Ran me about $2000. Yes, I am gainfully employed, so this is nothing.

Question: Will this Machinery run Le-noox, or will a lot of shit be unsupported?

NVIDIA GTX 1050. 4K screen. 1TB SSD.

Also, should I put tape over the camera before running it for the first time?

Why robotics haven't gone mainstream yet?
I see most of robotics are hobbyist. Robots have been existence since I guess 3 decades.
Is world government trying to secretly hide the importance of robots by not acknowledging in mainstream media but inside their building they are pushing for more and more research and development?

Why the fuck does it matter if robots go mainstream? Hell what does it even mean for something to go mainstream? Hell I can probably go down to walmart pick up a robot vacuum, robot helicopters, and toys that are arguably robots.

Now if you're wondering why you don't have robot arms in your home, what the heck would you do with such things? Robots are currently not smart enough to do most of the things we'd like them to do in the home. They aren't very good at recognizing what things are or picking up and moving things around.

1080 @ 120hz vs. 4K @ 60hz

What and why?
20 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
4k if you really need good visual quality at a premium
144hz if you need to play garbage like CSGO to save your life
neither if you don't need either of those things
>>
I'd take 1080 at 120hz.
Not a gaymur though. 1440p at 120Hz would be just perfect. Big enough resolution to for a lot of screen space, small enough to not be forced to scale like a retard.

If you want help:
>Assemble your parts list

>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA)
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
How to assemble a PC, select components & more (kind of outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

CPUs:
No i5 unless discounted
>G4560/G4600 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - Cheapest quad core you can get (Ryzen 3 soon)
>R5 1500x - Good but up to 1600 if you can
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; 1600x if you want higher stock clocks
>i7 7700k - 144hz only
>R7/Used Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/VM/mixed use; Not for just gaming

GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits a lot from high speed RAM

General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
The Ryzen lineup comes with surprisingly good stock coolers. consider using them over any <$30 cooler.

Valuable lesson to learn here: bullshit can make you go a long way.

Entire companies have been built on it. And your competition will never refrain from using it. So learn how to bullshit your way through situations and learn how to detect bullshit. Because that's a fucking lifesaving skill.
