Chicago95 is comfy as fuck, however there are times where xfce's spartan interface leaves something to be desired. If only KDE Plasma had proper 90s themes...
Holy fuck. I just came up with a revolutionary idea for the web.
So, see the suggested videos on the right side? Instead of clicking the thumbnail and it reloading the page to load the new video....
What if you click on the suggested video, and the VIDEO PLAYER refreshes. That way, you don't have to annoyingly refresh the page and shit.
URLs for the new vid (for sending it to people) would be stores in the video. The URL up top would be something else, dunno how it'd work.
What do you think?
I predict a lot of the internet will be like this somehow.
Damn I love weed

who the fuck cares
>>62399748
it's retarded that the big video sites don't already behave like this. also:
>make video fullscreen
>video ends
>click on one of the related videos
>exit fullscreen
>page reloads abruptly
these sites love using tons of javascript yet they don't seem to apply it where it matters
Why are milliners care more about aesthetics than functionality?t

>ten years ago the government created a global agreement between over a hundred countries
>reading between the lines of the agreement some infiltrated spies discovered a few weird things
>all men under the national territory of the United States are secretly obliged by law to have their intimate parts recorded through smart devices
>pornography companies somehow obtain this information and start developing adware in order to infect user’s phones and make use of the backdoor
>six years later, ex-NSA agent Edward Snowden revels to the world many of the discrepancies that the government has been hiding from US citizens
>all leaks that Snowden provided scare the population for a few months until more news from him come throughout the years
>resting in the room provided to him Snowden knows what’s up and realizes there’s a couple of leaks he didn’t manage to expose to the world
>entertained by the television shows Snowden tries to forget all the stress he has been dealing with
>not much time passes until he realizes the whole conspiracy behind web clutter on simple porn websites one of the few forms of entertainment he could make use of when hiding in his room
>through intense research and dedication he finds out the government attached a backdoor on almost every mobile device
>growling with hatred he rushes towards the press to reveal the ultimate malevolent plan the government has been hiding for years
>all his efforts, however, are quickly turned useless as he’s shut down by his bodyguards which were listening to his whole explanation of the problem
>you all might be wondering: but why?
Why would the guards that are supposed to comply with the ones who are trying to defend Snowden prevent him from telling everyone the truth? Well, turns out Snowden also realized that this backdoor is being used to capture pictures of woman as well (mainly celebrities). In his research he found out a website containing thousands of pictures (even more than the fappening incident) which ties in perfectly with the names of the main culprits inside the government and the NSA responsible for the backdoor. Sadly, the guards were seduced by the content of the website and realized that revealing the truth to the public would only end the huge stream of such content and now you might be wondering, how do I know this? well, I can’t say exactly otherwise my identity would be revealed, I wish I could provide the source for such claims like the website itself but I’m sorry. I believe this is a subject that must be studied and discussed repeatedly thus I recommend you reading the entire post again, word by word, specially the first letter of each quote to get a full grasp on the reality of our current society.
holy fucking shit is this oc

if you want help:
>Assemble parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>State the budget for your build (and country if not USA)
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
How to assemble a PC, select components & more (outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC
CPUs:
No i5 unless discounted
>G4560 - poverty-tier builds
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - If you need multithreading
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage
>R7/Used Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/VM/mixed use, not for just gaming
GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>VEGA
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 or Vega 56 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games
RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits a lot from high speed RAM, 3200 MHz is ideal
General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor

I can't find a node.js and SQL stack anywhere. In the past, I've done the standard LAMP stack but I hate php and I need to write a decently complex backend and I don't feel like doing that in PHP
Not a big fan on mongoDB or else I'd go with a MEAN stack
Suggestions? I really don't want to buy a vps and configure a bunch of shit with cost-per-minute computation and data caps and hardware limits
I'd rather have some shitty shared server that I don't have to worry about because I'm trying to make a project or two for resumes and small projects
>>62399280
Just configure your node.js application to use a MySQL database, or is there something I'm missing?

I don't deal with node myself but this might be something you can use:

Honest question to the people who hate on Apple
Have you ever owned any of their flagship products at the time of release?
I've recently purchased a Macbook pro 13 inch and I really love the design and how everything works. There are a few things I miss from windows though.
I used to own an iPhone SE. Before, I used S4 and was really happy with it but the SE was not as good as S4. It didn't feel comfortable to hold and I didn't like the fact I could download things freely or watch things online freely.
I ended up trading with my mom for her S7 and I really like it.
mackillyourself consumerist
I had iPhones 4, 5 and 6 at the time of release. I also bought a Mac Mini when they came out.
I didn't hate them TOO much until they started arbitrarily doing away with useful ports and I/O in favor of gimmicks.
Now obviously they've gone full surveillance mode and keep charging people more to be fucked in the ass. Can't get on board.
>>62399216
>few things I miss
Like what
I'm about to fall for the macbook meme too
What did your friends say about this?
Yes and nothing
>>62399141
I never bought into the "smart"phone meme in the first place. Only one guy in the group did and we call him a metrosexual because of it.
I shitpost on a laptop from 2003 and use a Motorola razr
Honestly, its a mixed bag. I miss some functionality, I really miss youtube, however I'm not constantly distracted. Laptop is for viewing 4chan and checking some forums, emails, facebook. And the phone is just for calls and texts. Nothing else.
In a way its nice, I kinda forgot what life was like before a smartphone.
>Bezel-less screen
So it will break if you drop it even from a low height (see Essential phone, Xiaomi Mi Mix)
>OLED Screen
so it will show screen ghosting after some months of use because of pixels getting faulty (see the entire Galaxy S and Note devices)
>Wireless Charging
so it will overheat like hell while charging, making the battery lose its original capacity over the years (see basically every phone with wireless charging)
>Face recognition
so it will be easily unlocked with a photo of its owner (see Galaxy Note 7, S8, S8+)
wow, I thought Apple preferred to not adopt new technologies until they're perfected but I guess good PR and sales are what matter the most huh
>>62399086
>OLED Screen blah blah
I had a nexus 6 for 2.5 years and used it frequently for gps strapped to my bike with the sun shining directly on it in 90+ degree heat all day and the screen never had issues. If your OLED phone has/had screen issues it just fuckin sucks, sorry.
I also never had isssues with wireless charging. Used it every day. Jesus what shitty phones are you guys using? Oh right this is /g/ who thinks gentoo and thinkpads are the pinnacle of technology, nevermind...
>>62399173
look a totally grey image on your phone, turn the brightness up
see the horror
>>62399086
>so it will be easily unlocked with a photo of its owner (see Galaxy Note 7, S8, S8+)
did you even watch the keynote, you motherfucking retard? they specifically protect against that.
Admit it: You’d buy a MacBook Pro if you could afford it.
>>62399074
I do indeed have the money to buy one but I have not bought one for the following reasons :
>no trackpoint
>no physical trackpad buttons
>will break into 80 pieces if I drop it from 2 feet
>so normie it doesn't have a delete key
I bought a ThinkPad P50 instead
>>62399074
I could buy that or a new graphics card and CPU
Sorry macbook
