I recently began my first full-time job and have been using acme exclusively since I picked it up a couple years ago in college. Despite my initial skepticism it's been serving me incredibly well, even on a larger codebase.

This thread will likely die quickly, but if you are using Plan9/9front or some tools from plan9port, what are you using? How have you been liking it?

Cheers, /g/.

Let's say I have a video DVD. I want to derive encryption keys from sections of it using something like lyra2 or argon2. Is there a utility I can use to do this?

I don't really want to roll my own KDF, as I know it won't be secure.

I also don't want to write a program just for this purpose.

How often should I be making backups? When are they old enough to delete?

Every time you save things.....
I do every monday
>>
I'd do it on a regular basis, like every week or two. But whenever you have some kind of important or big amount of data you should do a backup immediately.

So I got new X1C. First of all, there were no adapters, unline mentioned here:
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-2017-Core-i7-Full-HD-Laptop-Review.207160.0.html

Then I wanted to get rid of Windows and install openSUSE because it's comfy af.
ISO is 4.1 GB, my biggest USB stick is 4 GB.
So I trie dout the net install. However, it doesn't recognize the wifi card.

Does anyone have an idea how I could get out of my misery without either buying a bigger USB stick or the stupid adapter? Can I install the wifi driver on the net installer? Can I remove packages I don't need from the full iso?

>bloated distro has fuck i remember that installs a lot of shit you aren't goin to use like zsh without even noticing
>lack of software ( you have to rely on user packages that are mostly outdated has fuck
> fresh install doesn't even detect the DMZ cursor theme unless you edit the default/index.theme manually (tumbleweed)
etc,etc,etc

I really want to install openSUSE, but if you think, you know sometihng better, go ahead.
inb4 *buntu, manjaro aka NIN OS or Mint
>>
>>61328134
install gecko linux
it's opensuse but you get to choose between KDE or gnome since the opensuse ISO brings both, that's why it's bloated up to 4gb

What's the best medium for getting files from your pc to an audio device? Currently I'm planning out a stereo system with floorstanding speakers in my living room. Aside from the blu ray I want to get music from my pc to the system. I'd really like to avoid running long cables, be it powered usb or xlr from my desktop dac. Networking seems to be the most convenient option, but what to use? Dlna, plex, the dreaded airplay, or something else altogether?

I've used Madsonic with some success. Streams video too. Of course you need an actual device on the other end not just a DLNA reciever.
