As I've read a million times, I know that not everything is working when trying to install any sort of distro on the new line of MacBooks.
However, I'm pretty new to Linux and I'm wondering how support for these things come about. So I have a few questions:

How long do you think it will take for an update to the Linux kernel that will support and have the new Macbook pro's working correctly?

Who creates these kernel updates? Are they just standard everyday contributors?

Its 15% normal contributors the rest is spread between ibm redhat and other corps

How long does it usually take for these fixes to take place?

It really depends either apple is going to help or some form of reverse engineering is going to take place who knows how long that would take.

You're wondering who I am (secret secret I've got a secret)
Machine or mannequin (secret secret I've got a secret)
With parts made in Japan (secret secret I've got a secret)
I am the modren man

I've got a secret I've been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain I.B.M.
So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised
I'm just a man who needed someone, and somewhere to hide

To keep me alive, just keep me alive
Somewhere to hide, to keep me alive

I'm not a robot without emotions. I'm not what you see
I've come to help you with your problems, so we can be free
I'm not a hero, I'm not the saviour, forget what you know
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control

Beyond my control. We all need control
I need control. We all need control

I am the modren man (secret secret I've got a secret)
Who hides behind a mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
So no one else can see (secret secret I've got a secret)

Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto,

Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For doing the jobs that nobody wants to
And thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For helping me escape just when I needed to
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I want to thank you, please, thank you

The problem's plain to see:
Too much technology
Machines to save our lives.
Machines dehumanize.

The time has come at last (secret secret I've got a secret)
To throw away this mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
Now everyone can see (secret secret I've got a secret)

Honestly I just use the default browser that came with the phone. It's just called "internet". I used firefox which was slow and for whatever reason couldn't play videos. I switched to chrome which ended up killing my battery even when I wasn't running it. The default browser is quick and doesn't kill my battery doing botnet shit.

So this is my first time working with a ground up linux system. I have almost everything the way I like it, but there are two basic things that are annoying me, and they both involve mounting and unmounting media and partitions.

Basically, I want to have hot plugging enabled.

As in, I plug in a USB drive, it automatically mounts and is listed in my file manager.

I hate having to open terminal and do
>sudo mount /dev/sdxy /media
to make it show up and then unmount it after.

I've heard about automount daemons but I can't find any. Is there a simple way to do this?

The second problem is much easier, and that is giving myself permission to mount and unmount the windows partition. Right now I have my fstab edited to where the windows partition is always mounted, but I have no permission to unmount it. Is there an easier way for this?

Thanks.

facebook is full of boring stuff. that is why everyone who spends a lot of time on there is boring as fuck to talk to in person.

You only see people doing stuff on facebook in America, because this is the only place in the world where free time is a thing. Most bongs have to work two jobs just to pay rent, and other places like South America and Africa have nothing but free time, but they don't have internet yet.
