He's too edgy for my tastes.
Hey.
My 21st is coming up, and my parents are getting me a new laptop. It's got to be <£1000, it's got to have decent battery life, and be <15" screen.
I am thinking a macbook pro (inb4 macfag lele) or a thinkpad, but I can't find a thinkpad that meets my requirements.
Any suggestions?
You won't get a good MBP for that much.
You shouldn't be spending more than half of that on a ThinkPad.
oh, and by the way, I am talking about the macbook pro pre-retina, so I can upgrade HDD and RAM etc

T420
or
X220
They only cost around $350 and they will outperform many modern macs because they don't use a voltage-starved CPU. Battery life are amazing on these models of ThinkPads, you can get up to 18 hours on the X220 with a 9 cell battery with slice, 15 hours on the T420 with the same battery options.
This is the Lisp General, ask any and all lisp questions here. Here's a link to the general's pastebin that contains many links to various books, sites, and other interesting information:

Here's the /g/ wiki's page on lisp:

Which dialect do you prefer?
Do you use Emacs or a different lisp-based editor?
What was your first experience with lisp?
What have you made in lisp?
What is your favorite Lisp program?
What do you like about Lisp?
How do you think Lisp is (one of) the superior programming language(s)?
How long have you been programming in Lisp?
What are your favorite Lisp resources? Please share, preferably links!
Is Lisp your main programming language or not? Regardless, what do you primarily use it for?
What would you like to see in the Lisp general?
So has anyone here ever used EIEIO for Elisp?
It's supposedly like CLOS.
This might be an interesting read for those interested in Lisp machines.

For some reason that links to the last message; not that it matters too much, but https://groups.google.com/d/msg/qilang/Ch3dZ_220kA/2igXmqeqpK8J would be better.
Seems like most "hackers" just use pre-made tools they don't even necessarily understand nowadays. I've been wanting to get more into security (network and OS for starters), cryptography, etc, and I am much happier making things myself. Is it still viable, though? I mean, would I be able to get things done in a timely manner, or would it be comparable to still using assembly for gamedev in the vidya dev industry?

Start playing around with Kali-linux and learn from the tools in it.
And I make my own scripts when im doing something specific, but I mostly use the tools in kali + various other tools
>>42978939
I just installed it last week. I'll look at the man pages. For kali linux, what are some good places for literature and turorials and none of that "crack somebodys facebook password" crap that doesnt really work?
>>42979197
I can upload "Kali Linux Cookbook.pdf" "Web Penetration Testing with Kali Linux.pdf" and "Instant Kali Linux [PDF]" in a zip if you want them, or you can just google them
Can somebody please identify the ones I marked in a red question mark?
Also, don't mind the tiers, we all know /vg/agdg is retarded.
That thing is all kind of wrong.
One of those is

by the way.

I recently bought a Thinkpad x220 to dual-boot Ubuntu and Mavericks
The stock wi-fi card does not work in Mavericks, so I bought a new one
It doesn't match the BIOS whitelist so the laptop won't start
>How do I hack the bios to edit/remove the whitelist?
Otherwise I'm gonna use a USB wi-fi dongle
In your opinion, what is the best looking case and the best functioning case?
What does a kernel actually do? Why is Linux better than other kernels?
What are some Micro ATX Socket AM3+ Motherboards that have decent chipsets? Preferably with four memory slots. Pic unrelated.
She would be hot if she amputated below her knees.
And If I had any idea how she stays clean after using the bathroom.
>>42986683
Well a relevant pic would have been less attention grabbing.
wow, that's hot
>Mac book air
>Ipad
>iphone
Lets face it, if you're doing computing on the go you are probably using an Apple device. How is it that one company does it so well?
Using Facebook is not doing computing, son.
>>42984545
by being really good at knowing where the market is going and more often than not being first to market with those products. ex thin and light, value placed on battery life, hidpi displays etc
>>42984600
posting on /g/ and installing ubuntu / muh gaemz is not computing, son
IT'S HAPPENING
>>42978032

The lamp should be pointed at a ~45° angle at the wall so that the light bounces up at the wall and reflects back all around
>>42986190
I suggest looking into building a desktop.

Is there any up-to-date phone similar to this? I really want a phone which is as open source and with a physical qwerty keyboard.
I'd buy one but the price is way too high
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOKIA-N950-Developer-Device-RARE-/221487903735
>>42984187
Not that I know of, sorry.
Hardware keyboards died, sadly. Don't let the neo900 convince you, it's got meh-tier specs (whereas you could just get an N97, N97 Mini or N900) and costs the same as a flagship.
>>42984187
have you looked into jolla
>tfw no ubuntu edge
Why the fuck are there no phones with physical keyboards anymore?
Guess what time it is you retarded assholes
Its time to battle
With stations
Post your pleb tier shit
>>42985867
