Gentoo can be good if you know what you're doing. Would recommend it as a first distro. You can make a nicely customized sweet system with it. Once you get to a point where everything is working and you have everything installed that you will ever want, then freeze it: no more emerge sync.

So I just recently got a new pair of Beyerdynamic headphones and I'm loving it, but I'm still constantly switching back and forth between audio inputs for different purposes.

I'd like a hotkey or something to make it faster. What should I do for that? I'd like to just do something natively; there seem to be a lot of little programs for it, but I try not to get a thousand tiny purpose-built things like that.
