Why was this a phenomenon?

Did it actually help one exercise or was it just a horrible horrible marketing gimmick?

Someone I know said they found Wii Fit Plus and a working Wii Fit board at Goodwill and said they did work up a sweat while playing some of the mini-games, but I don't believe that a video game can actually help people lose weight yet alone exercise.

Does anyone here have experience with this?

My family actually had one when they were popular and it was fun to use actually. Some of the games were somewhat challenging. However I think it's really only something a complete beginner could use for a while
>>
>>42257524
Are they good for ladyboys who want to achieve a feminine figure and have no idea where to begin their fitness goals?
>>
I bought some EA one for PS3 when I started to lose weight. It was actually pretty good. The sprinting exercises made me sweat like crazy.
>>
>>42257341

it helped my fatbody nerd friends lose close to 100 lbs together, she kept going and is skinny now, he gained it back
>>
>>42257341
My family bought one for Christmas and everyone played it everyday and burned a decent amount of calories. It shouldn't replace proper exercise but I think it's a happy medium between gaming and exercise
>>
its good if you have 0 discipline and have to gamify workouts

>>
The virtual trainer was pretty hot and says encouraging things to you in a soft tone about how great your workout is going.

Nintendo Wii basically delayed my weight loss by several years. I got a Wii with Wii Sports when it was released.

Basically for like 10 years (2006 till last year, 2016) I played a few Wii Sports games every night and assumed that was keeping me in pretty good shape despite being 120lbs overweight

I used to create Miis with names like 'Doritoes', 'Krispy Kreme' and 'Oreos'. And I would beat them at golf or bowling (tennis was too hard for me) and I would say 'Well I beat McDonalds at Wii Bowling, so I have to eat McDonalds for dinner so that the calories burnt will fuse with the memory of my victory and help me get thin'. Fugg I was so deluded.

I am working out really now
>>
>>42257341
Wii Fit was really fun. Dont know if anyone ever took it serious as a fitness device (Or anything near that)

This. It's either good for moms and fat gamers to learn to be more active, or for those who get fit for their waifu
>>
I have wii fit u. The first two games were mediocre but the third one is great.

I do about an hour everyday and I have a total of 130+ hours clocked in. It helps improve my posture, maintains my bmi, and teaches me the proper way to do each exercise.

I still lift weights and run, but wii fit is great for yoga and some mild strength training

It's just a yoga game. Yes you can obviously work up a sweat if you're physically unfit enough to sweat from fucking yoga. There is no gimmick or scam to be found here. Don't know why /v/irgins complain about it so much, especially not on their own board.

>friend's wife "wanted to lose weight"
>was SUPER EXCITED about wii fit
>used it about four times
>pulled it out two weeks later and it showed her that she had gained two pounds
>she put it away and never touched it again

Do you guys think she is now

A. 30 pounds lighter than then
B. 30 pounds heavier than then
C. 70 pounds lighter
D. 70 pounds heavier
E. Same weight
>>
It seems like a good way to help people get active, a gateway to a regular activity.
>>
>>42261914
I want to not pick D, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is.

Anything that doesn't track the calories you eat isn't going to help that much with weight loss, but Wii Fit and Wii Sports are both good at helping with low impact cardio.

I gave mine to my mother and I think it's helping her a lot compared to doing nothing.

Athletes will see very little utility, but /PLG/ could stand to do the Yoga
