If it's a beginner routine, we know most cunts aren't going to get the book. Too much commitment at first to buy it. We should recommend Stonglifts (-squatting on DL day,+ more DL volume that day, + dips and or pullups from the start) since it has a website with a book's worth of information already on it.

There's a conflict of ideology here. Strength guys think glutes, quads and hamstrings are the most important muscles because they are the biggest and strongest and help you move a lot of weight.
Bodybuilders think the biceps and all other muscles they can see in a mirror of above waist height are the only ones that matter.
These are their priorities and while they will occasionally train the other muscles as well, the ones i mentioned will always be the most developed. Just do a program of the camp you identify with most.

No, it is a very good routine for quickly building a strength base. You may or may not look aesthetic, but that isn't really the goal of the routine. I did it for 6 months, and by the end, I was outlifting friends that had been brosplitting for a couple of years by a fair margin.
Even if you end up looking like shit, just do a routine focused on growing upper body, and you will even out within a couple of months.

SS has more upper body work than lower, don't know where the meme comes from that it doesn't. You're pretty much only doing:
>9 sets of squats plus 1.5 sets of deadlifts for lower
>9 sets of pressing with 4.5 sets of rows (assuming row variation substituted for cleans) for upper
>10.5 sets total per week for lower vs 13.5 sets for upper
Add pull ups and dips to that as accessory (which Rip advocates), plus the fact that both squats and deadlifts work back and posterior chain, and upper work is dominant compared to legs.

I feels like this meme comes from people running the program wrong and overexerting themselves on the first lift which is squats, meaning secondary lifts suffer.

Fullbody is superior to brosplit. The problem with SS is program design. It is severely lower body biased.

A good routine to start with is Greyskull LP. There's enough squat volume to progress and upper boody lifts to not look like a trex

Here's a good balance
Squat
Bench
Rows
Pec Deck fliyes
Rope Pushdown
Calf raises

Deadlift
OHP
Chinup
Barbell Shrugs (w/ straps)
Curls
Cable Crunch

Main lifts: 2x5, 1x5+
Deadlifts 1x5+
All accessories: 3x8-12

If your main lifts (ie the first 3 in any workout) stop progressing, before you deload, drop the accessories by 1 set and up your calories and see if it goes up. if that fails, THEN deload by like 10%

Also, how the fuck do you expect one to take heavy squats lightly when you have to constantly be mindful of form, breathing and not collapsing like a twig under the bar? It's only natural that heavy squats will be stressful.

However the problem isn't in the exercise but the frequency SS recommends. If the same effect can be achieved with less work, why choose the more strenuous option? SS, SL, GSLP any well designed beginner program will work, so if the trainee doesn't want to be a T-rex, why force SS? What's with the blind dogmatism

If YOU actually read the book, you'd know that you are supposed to include chin ups from the get-go. You add in power cleans after a week or two of deadlifts strengthening your pulls. And you don't goddamn add anything else until after the novice phase is over.

That "Useful Assistance Exercise" section was not "Here's a Whole Bunch of Shit to Throw Into The Program At Your Ignorant Whims." It was "Here's how to do some shit you might need to know how to do further down the road, well after you're beyond the novice training stage."
