I go to a local gym in a townhall which is furnished with equipment a guy who moved away left behind. It's not bad, but some of the stuff is homemade and quite dangerous (such as the bar holders for squats)... and, basically, the mayor told me he's gonna give us some money to furnish it properly.
Are there any people who know sometHing about it and could advise me a bit?
Firstly, NEOPREN plates, are they any good? The gym is in an old castle so the floor was definitely not made with dropping heavy plates on it in mind so I figured something 'bumpy' would be better. Here's what I picked so far www.posilovaci-stroje.com/dtl-olympijsky-cinkovy-set-neopren-130-kg-osa-kotouce-2x-uzaver?grp=83 (the language is Czech). For the rack, as I'm on a budget, I found either www.posilovaci-stroje.com/dtl-posilovaci-klec-barbarian-power-rack-hd-pr-023?grp=233 or a bit cheaper and still sufficient www.posilovaci-stroje.com/dtl-silovy-stojan-barbaarian-squat-rack?grp=233 .
I'll have to choose some cushioning for deadlifts as well, gonna look into that now.

>The mayor is giving me monies to furnish a gym in a mysterious eastern european castle
>Better ask to a Malaysian missing planes forum what to do

It seems the mayor has done a great job

Bumping for you because this is cool that you can do this. I have no expertise in this matter. Maybe the BB forums could help if no one here is of any usE.

I mean, it's not a rocket science. It's just that I never been to any fitness chain so I don't know what do they use.
Some of the stuff we've got there is, as I said, homemade (like, do you know those metal holders for those huge umbrellas that shade your table they use in cafes? Well 2 of them together are what makes our rack and needless to say thay get sometimes wobbly and the whole weight is held only on 1 screw on each of the holders... each screw is 0,5-1cm so... yeah, not safe at all.
Also the Czech Republic isn't a mysterious eastern european country.
>>35196083
Cool, bro.
Have a pic of my retarded cat.
>>
Jesus christ why is everything so fucking expensive.
A fucking bench (not a benchpress station, just a bench) costs a fortune.
>>
>>35195998
>>
>>35196145
that's some adorable puss, why you hating on him
>>
>>35196291
>>35196330
He's my senpai, I may call him retarded but I love him more than anything.
>>
>>35196291
>>
>>35196381
>>35196417
mám klec, kotouče a polohovací lavici.
ano, normální klec (power cage), ne ten stojan (half cage).
>>
>>35195998
Protect your floor with rubber horse stall mats, or even beter, a lifting platform, made of plywood and rubber mats.
>>
>>35196506
Hm, no, zkusím ty kotouče ještě trochu prozkoumat...
A co podlaha, musels kupovat nějaké gumy či tvrdit?
>>35196595
ATM we're using two woden desk covered in carpet for deadlifting so that it's not on the floor. I'm thinking about it, but in the shop there were none.
>>
>>35196650
If you're nog concerned about noise or aesthetics, but purely about the floor protection, those planks with mats might just be enough, you could use the money you would otherwise spend on the rubber to but beter equipment
What is your budget?
How many people does this gym have to serve?
Are standard barbell exercices enough, or would you like specific machines?
>>
>>35196506
>>
>>35196702
Noise is of no concern, we could be listening to gay porn with hats on turned up to 200% and noone would care.
Uhhh, some 2000 dollars.
There's 3 of us who do SL so mainly barbell, me, my bro and cousin. But then there're 2 more groups - a group of kids around 14-15yo and a group of kids around 15 - 16yo. They do bench, I'm not sure about squats...
They, however, want me to buy elliptical machine or what'sitcalled and 'another pair of dumbbells because one is not enough' (wtf?). (They were even retarded enough to write down that I should 'buy protein for the rest of the money')
If it were up to me, the power rack and barbell set would be enough. That will cover about half of the budget.
>>
>>35196751

€1800 is a lot of money for what is essentially a homegym. But keep in mind that cardio equipment is expensive.
Essentials: Powerrack, (adjustable) bench, barbell, plates + microplates.
Nice to have: dumbells, lifting platform, dip handles for powerrack, pull up bar on powerrack, weight tree.
Extra's: mirror, music installation
For cardio equipment, I would recommend either an airdyne or a rowing machine, try to but these secondhand if you plan on buying one, they're expensive.
If you're somewhat handy, you Can make stuff like a lifting platform, Weight tree/plates storage (if it's not included in the powerrack), microplates yourself.
You can always try to find a metalworker in your village who can weld you a proper powerrack, but drilling all those holes in the uprights does take a looooong time.
>>
>>35196917
As I said, all I need is the powerrack and the barbell+plates set. With the current weights we can get up to some 130kg so that's cool, but the guy whom it belonged to said he will be taking some away, so we will be left with less... he's also gonna be taking away the bench press so that sucks...
Dips are already doable, there's the wooden construction built to the wall that gymnasts use. Mirrors and so on are present as well...
And concerning the cardio equipment, if it were up to me, I'd just buy some jump ropes, those are great, I bought one for myself, do some 100jumps at the beginning of the session to warm up and it's sufficient. Not to mention that we live in a village of 1000 and if you walk in any direction for 5 minutes you will get into fields so running is not a problem... and there's a rather big pond where you can swim in summer, not to mention all the possibilities for cycling. imo the cardio stuff they want is useless and they won't use it either anyway... waste of money.
