I'd like to start meditating, but I can't find any guides that aren't full of hippie/new-age bullshit.

Does this count as a /fit/ topic, and if so, can y'all point me in the right direction?

headspace app is great, after 10 free sessions there is a monthly charge, but its worth it imo

smiling mind is basically the free version of headspace. Same info/techniques, just not executed as well as headspace. but its 100% free so thats nice

Meditation means you let everything roam free. You yourself should stop existing as an actual being and instead become an observer. Also meditation have nothing to do with sitting, breathing and concentrating. Those things merely help you achieve the state.

You focus on breathing so you silence your inner "voice". When you focus on breathing, you arent narrating your thoughts. The idea is to let your thoughts be visual. So shutting off these visuals is the opposite of your goal.

Just to be perfectly clear. The voice I am talking about is when you think to to yourself "well, tomorrow I have to go and buy new shoes, hope they have some nice ones" while visual is what happens when somebody screams "watch out" at you. You dont think "oh, somebody think I should be aware of my surrounding, I really hope there isnt a fucking log falling on me or something" but instead you duck or something.

Here is the thing anon...

All of Life is in a constant state of meditation, the only thing you do when you "sit down to meditate" is realize this, you aren't actually doing anything other then realizing your state in the universe

In reality everything you do is meditation, Lifting, fucking like a deranged beast, reading, shitposting, its all part of the ether

So stop trying by sitting down and breathing like an autist and just....enjoy it
