I strongly believe my legs are too big (bet you've never heard that before)
My squat is 140kg, my bench is 60kg. It's ridiculous.

I honestly wish to fix this imbalance so I'm running starting strength.
However I do not wish to progress squats, if anything I want my legs to become smaller temporarily.

Should I drop squats completely for now or just don't go above 100kg for 5 reps until my lifts even out? I'll be able to get up to 140kg again in a couple months.
For now I wish to concentrate on bench.

I just don't know what to do, how would you do it?
>>
>>35183859
Serves you right for skipping everything else day.
>>
>>35183859
Nice half squats
>>
>>35183873
I don't half squat. I do lowbar and go below parallel.

>>35183869
It does, so how do I fix it?
>>
>>35183885
>low bar

That explains it
>>
>>35183912
Yes, lowbar adds 140kg to your squat, I know.
>>
>>35183859
I've got a 120kg squat and a 95kg bench.

IMO, just benching and OHP more often should fix your problem.
>>
>>35183950
Sure, I do agree, however I'm looking in the mean time to temporarily lose lower body mass.
It should take me about 4 months to hit a 2pl8 bench if I am fortunate, most like 5 months due to stalls.

I do not feel good about my body because my legs are hilariously big and I don't have a visible chest.
>>
>>35183971
Bench won't give you the chest you want
>>
>>35184053
True but not entirely.
I just want a bigger upper body as a whole, sorry for not being clear.
>>
>>35183923
Wrong. It adds more like 15-20kg.
>>
>>35184095
In the higher numbers maybe, but at 140kg? Not really.
There are plenty of 300kg high bar squatters. Depth also plays a role in weight lifted.
>>
>>35184118
Yes, depth plays a big role. Most new lifters don't go deep enough by default. Especially on low bar where hamstring flexibility can hinder ROM.

I thought I was repping 2 plate high bar atg in my 3rd month lifting but I was only going 2/3 down
Now I'm repping 265 for 5 all the way down after 19 months and I'm a deadlift guy with long femurs to boot.
>>
>>35184157
265 after 19 months?
London?
>>
>>35184157
>Now I'm repping 265 for 5 all the way down after 19 months

ahahahahaha
>>
>>35183859
>I strongly believe my legs are too big (bet you've never heard that before)
My squat is 140kg, my bench is 60kg. It's ridiculous.
It's not your legs that are too big, it's the rest of your body that's too small
>>
>>35184207
Yes it is.
For personal satisfaction and quick gain I wish to make my legs smaller.

I don't feel good looking like this, it makes me very depressed and I wish to fix it ASAP.
>>
>>35184179
My femurs are 10% longer than my torso, do you realize the level of knee torque required to squat with long femurs?
You know how toddlers have short femurs that are half as long as their torso? That enables them to sit in an extremely upright position in the hole. Many South Americans and Asians have these dimensions, which is why Chinese and Hispanic weightlifters in light weight classes are so good a squatting.

I deadlift 450 pounds conventional despite only high barring 310
>>
>>35183859
Your bench is pretty shit, but there's no way your legs are too big.
>>
>>35183859
>SS
That's what causes your problem dummie
>>
>>35184261
he doesn't realize anon

manlets will never understand our squatting plights
>>
>>35183859
i'm just like you tho not that extreme.

You faggots who say 'legs can never get TOO big' just don't have any idea. It's come to the point where i have to wear special underwear if i think i'm going to walk a lot or run. The only reason i don't get rashes is because i conciously have to keep my legs dry.
>>
>>35184278
I have never ran SA in my life.

>>35184264
This is true, but my upperbody is ridiculously small so they look comically big,
It's easier to make things proportionate by loosing muscle as muscleman takes longer and I'm seeking immediate gratification.
>>
Less disproportionate then me desu
Bench 65
Deadlift 140
Squat 70
>>
>>35184304
That's dumb, think long term instead of short term.

I saw you were on SS, have you tried adding the arm and back accessories in yet?

Also, try increasing your bench frequency to 3x per week and relegate the OHP to an assistance lift.

What?

I do arm and back accessories, yes.
I'm trying to increase upperbody mass as a whole so unfortunately I am treating OHP as I treat bench.

The fastest rate of progression possible is 7.5kg a fortnight and I'm making the most of it for overhead press and bench press gains.

The reason I desire immediate gains is because I am becoming demotivated and depressed by my body.
I am actually depressed and it's effecting my life.
>>
>>35184323
I hurt my hip flexor as well, so no squatting for a while either

I'm sure I read it somewhere in this thread that you were on SS

And really, try different variations for back work, that is usually the big problem, not chest or arms.
>>35184340
LAD.........
>>
>>35184282
I am a 5'8" manlet actually
My femurs are 22" long, which is 32% of my height

There are other 5'8" dudes out there with 17" femurs and 2.5 inches more torso and shin which make squatting a hell of a lot easier. See Lu Xiaojun
>>
>>35184361
what kind of back work?I heard rack pulls build a big upper back.
>>
>>35184405
I personally do all kinds of shit, but I'm well past SS so I'm not super clear on what kind of workload you can handle at this point.

Personally I really like medium (5-8) rep sets of snatch grip deads, really works upper back.

I also do cable rows, barbell rows, chins etc.
>>
>>35184425
Thanks for the advice, my current back work is primarily strict pendlay rows, deadlifts and chin-ups.
I'll try out snatch grip deadlifts though, I do wish to do a deadlift variation.
>>
>>35184464
You might not be able to handle the workload properly with linear progression, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I also really recommend straps for them, your grip will be fried after like half a set.
>>
>>35184304
Why are you gonna do SS for upperbody gains? Just do PPL with minimal L.
>>
>>35183859
My squat us 100kg on 5x5 but my benches is 60 :p I'm starting smolov jr. In January
