So I failed on my double overhand grip deadlift for the first time today on my 3rd rep at 275lbs
I tried hook grip but it kept slipping.
How to I improve my grip strength?
>>35176791
keep deadlifting. try under over. hook grip takes a while to get used to, and is only really good for 1rm.
hammer curls, heavy db rows, heavy shrugs, pull ups, deadhangs, wrist curls(yes these actually work), high rep deadlifts hold at the top, srsly just hold heavy weights.
cmon op you could've googled this shit in 2 seconds
lay a newspaper down, open.
put your hand in the center.
use your fingers to make the first sheet into a ball, then the second
continue until the ball is too big to add another sheet
then start again

Heavy ass farmer walks. Do mixed grip for DL, don't let your deadlift suffer because of grip strength.

kek

Sounds like some gay anime shit desu senpai
>>35176989
I used to argue against farmer carries that they were a waste of time but I agree with enough of this post to say you're not wrong.
Op could just do overhand deadlifts warming up or for rows and shit and still get decent grip gains. I do overhand for at least my first set of sldl and that has yielded decent grip gains to the point where I can overhand deadlift 500 without much hassle

When did you start having to do over under? I'm pretty new and my deadlift is around 195 atm. I lose my grip after like the 2nd rep. Am I a pussy if I change?
warm up with double overhand, then switch to hook or mixed when you start losing grip

that bar looks far away as fuck
Instead of freaking out because your grip failed you one fucking time, how about you train your grip strength by continuing to deadlift over a period of time
>>35177177
Caladan damn it can you not spot an sldl
It's not supposed to start at shin
>>35177224
yeah I've never seen you do conventional before so I assumed this was it
>>35177241
I used to only do conventional f a m
>>35177171
Me personally I never understood the meme of DOH...I started out doing over under and people always try to tell me that my grip will be bad cause of it but I can still DOH 465lbs so all in all fuck that meme just do what you want
>>35177317
oh yeah
you ever train with straps? I cbf chalking up unless it's for a grip and rip session at 95%+
>>35177332
agreed, just fun to train it so use it on light warmups
>>35177345
I train with straps every chance I get. These little thumbs can't take it
just hold the barbell after you're done with deadlifting
>>35176791
>what is chalk
>>35177365
yeah same, fuck that shit
also the mods in /plg/ are being kind of gay
It just werks. Grip strength trains extremely quick in the beginning.
>>35177389
Yeah but t b h it's a necessary pain in the ass. We need to clean our act up
have you tried lifting weights?
the bands to work the negatives
barbell shrugs, bentover rows, farmer carries, Static holds
Dont isolate too much youre just starting
>>35176791
have you tried using a mixed grip? hook grip is shit imho, also what worked the best for me was doing heavy ass static holds, they are basically farmer walks without the walk part...
>>35176791
double overhand barbell holds breh.
>>35177171
I go over under at about 375 or so. Whenever I think my grip will fail. I worked on my grip by doing thumbless double overhand on my lower weights. I have no science to back up my reasoning. It works for me.
>>35177207
This is good advice. In addition, buy chalk. For my grip training, I do static double overhand holds with as heavy a weight as I can manage for 10+ seconds and plate pinches.
>>35177413
have some of these havent used in a while, going to get back into dat dere forearm training
>>35176791
power cleans. hang cleans are even better!
>>35176791
Since I started doing climbing once a week my grip deeply improved. I can now deadlift 220 kg beltless and and double overhead grip w/o hook grip
