Day 1 guy from yesterday reporting, first day lifting (SS routine) competed, 3rd day cutting cal. Had to figure out my 5 rep max, so sets were irregular.

Diet
>under 2000 cal every day so far, sodium too high though

Bench
>set 1: 15 reps @ 95lb way too easy
>set 2: 12 reps @ 115lb still pretty easy
>set 3: found a spotter, thankfully. 5 rep max ended up being 145lb

Sqat
>set 1: 10 reps @ 135lb easy
>set 2: 8 reps @ 165lb still easy
>set 3: 5 rep conformable max (no spot) ended up being 190lb

Pullups

Deadlift

4 months in.

Rarely work abs but I recently started hitting them hard. Will I have to wait till I cut to start seeing them or will they eventually start popping as I keep working them?

If you are lifting those numbers first day you technique is shit. You should start with fearly light weights and do repetitions just for the technique.

If I remember correctly it is something like 500 reps to get some basic muscle memory on lifts. Also film/have buddy watching your forms. Especially deadlifts/squats. Even in bench people make dangerous mistakes.

Saw a dude doing 140kg deadlift today with the most bent back i have ever seen. This is why im writing this, dont end up like that. Its pathetic.

Trying to get down to around 170-175 pounds.
Wondering if I'll look somewhat decent at that point. I feel a lot better already but meh.

It's embarrassing but that's 1 year's progress. I wasn't eating nearly enough for most of it though, and being low test (381 ng/dL) probably doesn't help either.

Test levels for reference. Fuark, the average 80+ year old has 50% more test than me.

I did work out in hs (8 years ago...), so I'm not completely new, and I'm a mechanic, so my job keeps me fairly strong. I was hitting much higher numbers back then, and was wrestling at 145lb and running cross country. My diet and smoking is what killed me over the years...

Deadlift wasn't one of the things we did often in gym, though, so I'm not surprised my form is awful. I'm really disappointed in pullups though. Used to knock out 15 reps plus 20lbs no problem.

it doesn't stop there, I did two cycles of UD2.0 and got tendinitis in my right brachialis tendon and my left achilles tendon

then I tried to get stronger, I didn't really get any stronger and still looked bad

religiously, I know that my maintenance when lifting 3 times a week at 190lbs body weight is 2700 calories. If I wanted to cut, then I would go lower, if I wanted to bulk I would go higher.

I got one gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. I also tried to restrict my fat consumption because when I bulked with a lot of fat I gained a lot of fat. Of course it's the fact that I was in a caloric surplus is what drove my weight gain, but my partitioning (fat vs. muscle gains) was horrible on a higher fat diet.

Ease up on the weights. You want to do this for two reasons:

You're new to lifting. You have no idea how to lift properly. Even if you know in your brain how to perform a lift, your muscle memory/CNS needs a lot of practice to get the lift right and efficient. You want to practice and learn proper lifting form at lighter weight.

Two, if you start too high on a progression program like SS, you're going to stall. Quickly and often.

So take some weight off and learn to do it right. Think of your first month or two as a training wheels period.

Actually 20kg in 6.5 months. First picture is January but that's not when I started lifting.

Yes. I also stopped running 40 km per week and started lifting. Obviously some of it is water weight but there's also muscle gains (and fat - obviously).

Start was back late August.
I did a cut with diet and exercise until the start of November, and have been lifting since then.
My weird stats are because I'm working out at the only place I can right now... Planet Fitness.
Routine is SL 5x5 with Dumbbells where possible, and SM for everything else. Also added accessories of cable flys and dips on bench day, skullcrushers and pullups on press day, and facepulls both days.

One month lifting.
Again did diet and exercise for a bit over two months.
Diet consisted of getting rid of soda and snacking and putting down the fork, plus I did IF once a week for about 36 hours.
Still doing IF because I believe there are definite health benefits beyond being a useful tool for cutting, though I am eating progressively more and more and maintaining with it.
Worried at some point it may harm recovery, but if that happens I will probably just try to move it to Sunday before outright stopping IF.

I actually apprenticed as a tattoo artist, at one point, and kind of played Guinea pig for a guy I worked with. The duck is a character my father used to draw in his school books that I found. He committed suicide when I was young, but he was good people. Depression is real, and I'm a major advocate for suicide prevention because of it.

The one by my hips is design the guy I mentioned earlier really liked, but couldn't find a volunteer for. It's well done, but fatness has ruined it.

The last one that you can't see was a character design that I used to draw all the time in school. It was my first tattoo, and was done by an inexperienced apprentice for cheap. It's not good, but the girl who did it has really come up in the tattoo world, and become a very respectable artist, so I kind of like it, anyway.

IF is intermittent fasting.
It was a tool I used early on just as a weekly caloric intake restriction.
Averaged about 3 lbs a week weight loss.
Wish I would have lifted at the same time as I most certainly lost muscle and could be further along in making it.
At least I did exercise at the time. Body weight and some dumbbells.
Now I do IF for the potential health benefits. The author of "Eat. Stop. Eat" had a good paper on it as a Master's thesis.
Though now he has web pages for his book that make me want to scan my computer after visiting them.

Think I should revise my earlier start.
It was probably more mid-August than late.
IF is pretty easy and with the other modifications of avoiding junk food and being active will certainly make the pounds melt away.
Just have to be honest with it by not over eating before or after a fast.
My fast consists of only water, coffee, or tea. Nothing added to tea or coffee.

So I'm trying to stay in the 175-180 lbs range at least until I can hit 1/2/3/4 for reps.
Seen a lot of people suggest cutting harder than that, but I think it will slow my progression which is my priority right now.

Rarely cardio, 10 minute run before I workout
Diet is random, usually don't eat till 1 or so every day but I have a coffee
I do Pplx2 right now but basically brosplit and I also do abs every other day for about 15 minutes
