I've read the sticky, lurked all week, and started calorie counting yesterday. My gym membership starts tomorrow, and I begin the SS routine tomorrow

I have been lifting for half a year and still have a stomach like that (maybe a little bit smaller) and no fat in other places what is wrong with my body?

Are my genetics just shitty to where I store most of my fat around my organs? Nearly everyman in our family has it.

I’ve been fat my entire life. At least until 2 years ago.

I had just gotten done having sex with my disgusting now ex-wife, and I went to take a shower. I was standing in the shower cleaning myself off, just absentmindedly rubbing my gut. I stopped and looked down when I realized what I was doing. I couldn’t see my dick past my bulging gut. I got out of the shower immediately and went and looked at myself in the mirror, and saw how fat and nasty I had been for my entire life. Hygiene was terrible, and was just a big lump of dough with zero muscle mass.

I was disgusted with myself.

I hopped onto /fit/ and read the sticky five times in a row. I did SS until linear gains stopped, and then went into a split at some tripfriend’s suggestion.

I’ve been lifting weights and running five days a week for the past two years. Over those two years whenever I looked into the mirror or looked at pictures of myself I saw the same blameless fat sack of shit I had been my entire life.

Fast forward to a couple days ago.

I was at the gym, and I was just finishing up with my hour long post-lifting cardio session, when my old football coach, whom I hadn’t seen since 2009, walks into the gym. This football coach is a big Samoan guy, he’s a powerlifter and should have gone into the NFL but he got hit by a car his last year of college ball. The car was totaled, and his leg was shattered. But anyway.

He took one look at me and he had this huge grin on his face. He walked up to me and said, “Hey anon, how you been man?"

"Good coach! How about yourself?” We made small talk until I finished up my cardio. I hopped off the treadmill, and after I wiped it down I turned to him.

I saw myself for the first time that day. Gone was the flubbery, doughy, fat excuse of a human being that I used to be. I stood there in front of that mirror looking at who I really was for the first god damn time in 23 years. I broke down and started crying in the middle of the gym like a kid whose first dog had just died.

It’s an amazing feeling, and if you’re struggling with getting into shape, keep on it. It’s the most rewarding thing when actually see the real you for the first time.

Still holds true to this day. I'm a little bigger now, sitting at 190, planning on cutting down to 170 by this march though.

Yeah I know actually its more like 8 months but 2 of those were irregular since I was in the army.

On my diet I have been experimenting and basically lowering carbs by 50g a week to see the effect/defect in lifts since I still want to increase my lifts and have enough glycogen (or what the name is) for heavy compounds.

Was thinking about picking up boxing in january as cardio, since now im not doing any cardio just lifting

My full transformation since March 1st this year. Yes I know I have a hipster mustache but I look odd without any facial hair and I hate having a beard now that I don't need to cover up a double chin

Yes but I strongly believe that you should eat as much protein and fiber as possible, and avoid sugar and salt. Also, as long as you are not cheating yourself, only weigh yourself once every 2 weeks or so, sometimes you retain fluid and "plateau" and dont lose for 5 days, and that really gets you discouraged when there is no need too.

In other words you might have bad posture and weak/inactive abs that make it worse than it seems. My stomach used to stick out even though I was underweight, but as I've started lifting and being more aware of my posture at all times it's way better.
