Hey guys, after hitting rock bottom in my life, and going through the following huge bout of depression lasting 5 months. I've gone from a solid 180lb to 155.

I know my muscle will come back FAR more easily than before. My question is if I'm lifting upper body twice a week, (legs once a week) what should my goal weight increase be each week/month?

I don't want to sell myself short on gains by simply not eating enough, but also am unsure if overeating (say 600-700 daily calorie surplus) will actually translate to fueling my muscle memory gains more quickly?

Last question, is my skin far less likely to incur stretch marks, since it was already that size in the past? or should I be just as cautious?

I'd be in a bout of depression too if I had your one rep maxes
>>
That's not what muscle memory is

You can only put on at most half a pound of muscle a week. So have a 250 calorie surplus a day at most, or you'll be putting on fat

The phrase muscle memory has 2 definitions.

One more motor skills

One for muscles ability to "remember" where it's previous state was, due to the neural connections you unlocked in training.

I just can't find any info on ideal calorie surplus to fuel this type of training.

Yes it is

I'm in a similar boat OP - I'm also wondering if one's tendons can get strong quickly in this case as well. We know tendons are slower to repair and build than muscle, so if we're going to build muscle even faster because of our weightlifting histories, can our tendons keep up? Or are we at much higher risk of tendonitis?
>>
>>35148106
I wonder if our tendons even get as weak as fast compared to our muscles, when we stop lifting.
>>
Did you really drop 25lbs of LBM in five months? Is this a normal rate for those who no longer lift?
>>
>>35147256

No.
>>
>>35148214
yes
>>
>>35148155
Probably not normal, I had maybe 1k calories a day most days. No appetite

If you were am athlete throughout high school and college, dropped of for a year or so, then went back into training, yes, you'd find it easier to recoup most of your previous *gains*.

If you're some skinny fat fuck that threw weights around for half a year, then just stopped and lost a bunch of weight, no. You're back to square one, kiddo.

IDK what these other faggots are talking, but my lifting 'career' has been irregular at best. I've taken bouts of 3 months off due to injury, about 3 due to boredom and another 4-7 for depression/boredom.

Everytime, my muscle has come back within like 4-8 weeks. Always just ate a 500 calorie surplus.

>>35148279
nah he's not, stop talking about things you have no clue about

I'd say eat 300 extra calories a day and hope for 2 pounds the first couple months and 1 pound every month after.
