Any /fit/ bros here that are cops? Looking into applying in my area.. they pay great, and the area is low crime (relatively)

Just curious about the PT requirements for the academy and how you like the job if you are.
>>
>>35142318
>PT requirements
have you seen cops before? if you can get out of your vehicle in <5 minutes i think you meet the requirements.
>>
>>35142318
yea OP, try not selling your soul for a salary
>>
Dunno about in clapistan but in ausfailia (NSW specifically) they're a joke.
>>
>>35142318
PT requirements are ez, just tell them with a straight face that you've never smoked pot ever, and the rest is up to chance. But you'll still be a dirty pig.
>>
>>35142349
Settle down, Jamal.
>>
>>35142354
i think lizard describes them better than pig
>>
Be a firefighter instead, being fit is more important to the career and you don't have to be a dickbag. Paramedic is also an option if you can handle gore, but bitches fucking love firemen.
>>
>>35142433
Becoming a paramedic is not easy and the pay is not that great tbqh. But firefighter + AEMT or paramedic is solid.
>>
>>35142433
I looked at that as well but the pay is around 20k less. Fit jobs are cool but money is better.
>>
>>35142318
Ex cop here. I've posted before.
If you work for a big county or city department you can expect good money and great benefits but alot of brass up your ass. The pt for the sheriff's office here in Travis County is a joke but the City agency is fucking brutal. A lot of departments are moving towards crossfit workouts and krav maga self defense. Stay on top of your cardio and lift and you'll be alright.
Anymore questions?
>>
>>35142352
NSW cops are alright, one even let me hide an ounce before I went to the station to make a statement. :^)
>>
>>35142507
I was like 3/4 the way through the recruitment shit but I got a better offer so I bailed.

>20k or less
the fuck

firefighters can make up to 6 figures by the end of their 25-30 year career and get fucking awesome retirement. where did you here <20k? whoever told you that is retarded
>>
>>35142511
Ah nice, what was the better offer?
>>
>>35142463

Think of what that 20k buys you. Do you really want to interact with the lowest dregs of society while being constantly shit on by the general public? If you have an actual career path it might be worth it. For example, being a detective is pretty rad outside of doing extensive paperwork.

But if you just want to be a beat cop, there is no chance you'll enjoy it unless you're already interested/passionate about law enforcement. A friend once told me police work is 99% mind numbing boredom and 1% extreme stress. Take that as you will.
>>
>>35142534
>20k again
people in the 10th percentile make more than 20k. y'all are misinformed af
>>
>>35142526
Teaching.

>>35142534
NSW anon here. Again, purely based on ausfailia, but you spend at least 18 months on the beat and then you can move into specialised units (K-9, highway patrol, etc) which pay decently. You can also get the force to pay for a law degree so you can join the prosecution unit.
>>
>>35142519
hear, not here. idk how I did that
>>
>>35142495
Austin is paying crazy amounts. How'd you like the job..why are you now a 'ex-cop'?
>>
A lot of cops work out bruh. At least until they hit like 35 then they get fat and shit. It's a shitty job but training and cadet school is tit unless you're a mong.

Don't do it if you fear that you're a closet racist and you're going to give Jamal a hard time, cuz Black lives Matter will ruin your life pronto but if you're a fair guy and willing to put up with people being crappy 24/7 you can do alright. the job is NOT active, however, you DO NOT move your body as a cop.

become a mover if that's what you're looking for

I'm a cop in Germany, ask me anything if you're interested in that...
Or someone else maybe, idc.
>>
>>35142556

A lot of it depends on the particular departments, average salaries are misleading. Besides, I was just replying to the OP's 20k remark more than anything else.
>>
>>35142519
I called and went to the Fire Dept recruiting sessions here... Not make 20k or less but make about 20k LESS than the base starting pay of the Police.

>>35142534
The areas I'm applying for are affluent, but I'm not naive enough to believe that I wont be coming into contact with the lowest denominators of humans. I've considered the paths and was looking at a detective. I really just want to bang out alot of OT make some money and invest in real estate..
>>
>>35142611
How are the Muslims?
>>
>>35142623
You'll get paid less but being a firefighter is mountains less shitty than being a police officer. Plus, bitches love firefighters, police officers have no such...appeal
>>
>>35142645
Eh, a lot of girls are into cops, but a lot girls are into a lot of things tbf
>>
>>35142623

If you've thought it through, then give it a try. You aren't set for life, and the experience will look good on a resume.
>>
>>35142629
That's a pretty broad question because Muslims are a large portion of the country so you can't give an answer that would do justice to every Muslim.
You could say that they are mostly alright.
There are a few idiots here and there but they surely aren't a minority.
Some are doing a job out of their criminal activity though.
I'm talking about drug dealing, prostitution etc.
They do it in so-called "Großfamilien", no idea what it's called in English.
It's when a big family has lots of influence that the members of the family act like a gang.
There are several in the big cities of Germany, i.e. Abou-Chaker, Al-Zain etc.
They are mostly arab/lebanese.
>>
>>35142318
Cop is fucking GOAT the PT is pretty easy just standard push ups and running a mile and a half. Lot of the people speaking against it here fall into 3 categories
1.) Edgy immature kids with no concept of reality
2.) Liberals who make under 50k
3.) People who have issues following basic laws.
>>
>>35142700
>no concept of reality

*take a drag of my cigarette* you don't know what it's really like out there on the streets, kid

Kinda sounds like gypsies, m8.. I dealt with similar types when I was in Spain except they were always robbing people late at night near the clubs.

>>

I worked for the sheriff's office and loved it. It's much more podunk than you think. Think of a bunch of country ppl in nice ass police gear.
The hours and advancement opportunities didn't exactly fit in with the lifestyle of 22 yr old kid like me. So I decided to start my own roofing business and haven't looked back sincse.
Pros
>money/benefits
>cop perks/glory
>bros
>paid to be fit and study
>fulfilment to a good degree
Cons
>shit hours and days off till you've reached a good amount of seniority
>getting shit thrown at you from criminals and getting your shit pushed in by the higher ups
>lots of politics
>lifestyle cramping
At the end of the day it is what you make of it
>>
>>35142745
The literacy test to get a job with the sheriff's office didn't require it so fuck off
>>
>>35142762
How much were you being paid anon? I'm basically looking for a night shift job that I can work 12 hr shifts and bang out alot of OT. Did you get OT. I've heard some say no OT and others say as much OT as you can handle.

>cop perks/glory
Examples, plz?
>>
(posting this in response to lizards shilling against Islam)
It's like we live in the Matrix...
You have to see past the smoke and mirrors and realize how backwards the world is.
The true Muslims are the ones who are bearing the cross right now.
The secret societies who control the world are the ones who truly create terrorism and destroy the earth - the Masons etc.
People need to realize that they aren't too low to commit any atrocity imaginable. .
They have and will sacrifice their own citizens to fulfill their agenda and ironically, blow up every other country in their way in order to destroy brown people and Faith itself entirely.
It's why there is an inverted pentagram and a compass built into the streets of Washington D.C.
It's why the Masons also built the Denver National Airport which features a mural depicting an apocalyptic Nazi genocide of the real Jews, the indigenous (brown) people scattered among the nations.
Most shills and people who are utterly corrupted will argue with an ad-hominem or just claim this to be false.
But history only repeats itself...
Before Ancient Egypt was Judged, all of the Twelve Tribes of Israel were in bondage, slaving for the Jinn race, the devil's children...
Because the Jews were "fruitful and multiplied" - grew too great in number, the Pharaoh decreed that the first born males be slain.
This is being reenacted today with extrajudicial police slayings/lynchings.
And just as fascists today, blindly shill and support their governments as if they can do no wrong, the Pharaoh's people followed their "god", the Pharaoh, unknowingly oppressing God's chosen people.
Don't expect His Judgement to be the same, but don't expect any different results.
All evil comes from your own soul.
We will have surely earned this Judgement.
>>
>>35142802
Not him but PD here starting makes over 50k with pension set up and all the benefits. You do 4 on 4 off as far as work goes. You will be working at night starting.

It's preferred you work corrections before you work the streets.
Entry level corrections is 38k then goes up to 42k after 2 years and becoming a "senior" corrections officer. If you have your peace officers license you can get to the streets before corrections if your very luck but you'll start out at around 49k and get to 52k after a 2 years and becoming a "senior" peace officer.
>perks/glory
All kinds of discounts for being a cop at six flags, cabbelas, local events, people pay for your food at restaurants, never get cited for speeding, constant praise and mires, and tell a bitch your a cop at a party and then you'll usually respond with "whoa, what's that like?" and the best thing for you to do is respond by telling her a crazy ass story and following it up with "but that's just part of the job ;)". Then show her a video your not supposed to have of you doing some bad ass cop shit. Works like a charm if you do it right.
You'll have fun man, trust me.
>>
>>35142802
Oh and about OT, go for it.
But beware it's really easy to get burned out so just keep that in mind and keep your life outside of the department strong. If you work all the OT possible you can make around 90k as a cadet.
>>
>>35142753
Not one thing that i reported stolen ever came back, not one child rape i know of was solved, and a swat member killer my cousin and was never prosecuted. There are competent people in society that don't need your stupid blue shield to protect themselves and their family and that scares you because you have a monopoly on violence.

Thinking of becoming a cop in my city.

They've got a pretty good reputation, and volunteer in the community a lot. Plus, sweet benefits, really fantastic pay, and actually good days off, if the hours are a bit long.

PT doesn't look too too hard, and I've already met the education requirements.

Either that or rob a string of McDonalds and start a Boardgame cafe and bakery.

There's a position not far from you anon with a sheriffs dept that starts at 23/hr here. Is there a big difference working with SO vs local PD?

The sheriff's office usually pays less than a big city pd. It is usually less strict with physical and educational standards. Less risk of getting hurt on the job also. A big city pd usually pays a substantial amount more and has room for quicker advancement. It also the full cop experience. You might actually get to draw and use your weapon and go home at the end of the day knowing you made a difference. With the sheriff's office you'll work traffic and the local carnival. SO's employ people who need jobs. PD's employ people who want to work real law enforcement.

>>
>>35142386

My bro is a cop. Somedays he just naps in the squad car while his partner cruises around.

Totally do it.
>>
Don't be a cop. Many people will hate you because your a cop. Those who don't immediately hate you will hate you if you are put in a situation that affects them and you are forced to enforce the law. Everyone from Joe Schmo of black lives matter to the local parish priest is not only a critic but also an expert at law enforcement tactics and will have no problem constantly criticizing how you and your co workers perform your job. I'd say it's more like 90% boring and 10% terrifying. The job comes with an inherent risk of harm or death. You're not going to be shot at everyday but you're going to get punched, spit on, or injured in a car wreck at some point. After dealing with the general public for a little while you will realize that none of them are worth the inherent risk you take for them.
If you're not in college then enroll. If you're already in college then take more courses to become qualified for something good in the private sector. If you're hell bent on milking from the public teat then be a firefag, just as exciting, everyone loves them, and they get tons of pussy.
>>
>>35143736
Yeah, because being a firefighter doesn't come with an inherent risk of harm or death. Paramedics are the only ones that aren't putting their lives at risk for a job, and everyone likes paramedics.

Police aren't going to be being abused by people that often though, most shitty people that aren't rioting (which you won't deal with as an average cop, you need training for riots), are going to be addicts, and the last thing an addict wants is to give a cop an excuse to arrest them and search their house.
>>
>>35142318
Cop here.

In my academy, the actual requirements to get in were easy. 25 pushups, 15 minute 1.5 mile, 70 second 300 meter. But the actual PT days were tougher, and a lot of cadets would fall out. Our instructor focused on cardio big time, so you had to be in good condition in order to handle his stuff. Some days it'd be a 5 mile run, others sally ups with 45 lb plates, and so on. They definitely put
A tab on who was actually applying themselves and who was lazy. Our pt "test" was called red man, where you ran an obstacle course and fought a top tier officer/fighter in front of the lieutenant. The idea was to run the course then not get your gun taken for 1 minute by the redman.

I'm a really physical dude, so I didn't have a real issue with any of it, and was usually in the top of the physical stuff. Problem is though, while driving and shooting were apart of your grade, pt wasn't which was stupid, so it never really pushed people to try.

Can any cop bros tell me if I have a chance? I'm 26 and looking for a career change and I've been interested in being a police officer for a while. However, I've done pretty much every drug there is at some point or another, so if I get put on a polygraph I'm toast. I really don't feel like I could pass background. Did a bunch of drugs and partying in my early 20's. I also live in Sacramento, CA so a pretty high crime area so they are super choosey with their officers and do extensive BG checks. Should I try to apply in a smaller city? What do?
>>
>>35147568
I should also mention I have some desirable traits too. I'm intelligent, rational, no priors nothing on my record, can run a 6 minute mile, and I'm a Krav Maga black belt/level 5. Also blue belt in bjj
>>
>>35147568
Depends on the dept you're applying for. They'll ask you these questions on your personal statement, and they'll also polygraph you. So if its been longer than 5 years you will probably be fine.. just have to look into it breh.
>>
>>35142495
Bro are you talking about travis county texas? I have a query, if i have an ajudicated drug charge that is going to be expunged this year am I eligible to be a cop?
>>
>>35147568
drugs aren't a huge deal as long as you have 2-5 years sobriety, depending on the department. The only one I know that will permanently disqualify you is using acid.
>>
>>35142623

Just because one city pays FFs less than cops doesn't mean they all do.

In most places in the US, the two are very close in pay.

I will say this, though. If you want to be a fireman, go to a big city, and get an assignment in a busy firehouse in a bad neighborhood. You'll actually go to fires and do the job. Most suburban FDs don't do anything these days.
