i'm just looking kind of like a meat gorilla right now, not very aesthetic. kinda miss having oblique striations. I trained purely for strength for a long time and got my dl to 590 and my squat to 445 before i got an ACL tear in judo. I think that's a sign for me to cut back a bit and train for longevity.
thanks brah, got the drive from being a wrestler for 10 years. The pain is kind of addicting but it's taking a toll. I'd be happy if i looked lean and lost a hundred off my dl and 70 off my squat
Posted this last night, been lifting 3 years. Started out at 300~lbs, completely sedentary and gaming 12 hours a day. First year I dropped 105 lbs and got down to about 195, then over 2 years bulked up to current (pic related) 265. 6"2 btw
Alright guys I have a serious question. My weight is going up really slowly (2lb over last month) and clearly I'm not gaining much mass. I know I have cardio days, but I compensate by eating 3500+ calories on those days. I don't want to lose my cardio edge, so would you recommend I just increase calorie intake everyday to 3500 to gain weight? Or should I stick to the fabled lean gains and go on a slow permabulk?

This is the biggest my hips have ever been and I love the butt, but am not thrilled about my thighs beginning to touch (mostly just because it is new)
I think I'm gonna up my cardio a bit to get a little leaner (im pretty soft) and see how I feel

started bulking from skeleton mode, but I think I want to cut now. I would definitely want more muscle but im chubby already and worried I will get so fat I will have stretch marks or loose skin

Should I put the most emphasis on isolating the long head of the tricep?
I have a 205 bench and curl 80 pounds for reps but I can only do 50 pounds skullcrushers 6-7 reps. That's how weak the triceps are.
5'11, 195 lbs, bench 275 for a trip, squat 455 for a dub, and dl 525.

You got some calves to back those quads up though? It's very obvious you're a splitter, if I was training you, I'd wanna assess your hams and lower leg as well as felxibility; as at first glance, your legs look like injury factories.
I definitely have pretty tight hams, don't know about lower legs. Can sit in a poverty squat all day long though, don't know how much that matters in terms of that. I do need to start doing more calve (and ab) work though, just always cramp up when I hit them so I never get much volume into them.

Chances are you have weak Tibialis Anterior relative to your calves, lower the weight of the calf raise and just go for pump, so aim for a certain volume and blast it out in one go with as few breaks as possible and raise the weight in time if comfortable. Remember though, your muscles in the front of your legs need to be worked too; so maybe some really tough cycling intervals might be the ticket to getting joocy lower legs for you.
Same for abdominal work, although squats, deads and bent rows etc should strengthen your abs no end. If i had to take a bet, i'd say you wear a belt in the gym reasonably often, cut that out and do some more lower body compounds. If you really feel the need to do isolated ab work, going for straight volume and pump is best for performance in the same way as the lower leg but you'll need to work your obliques, lower back and transverse abdominus as well to ensure you don't get any muscle imbalances.
At the end of the day, brosplits are the reason you need all this fine tuning anon, and the very reason I only ever recommend isolated excercises of any kind for either Rehab/Imbalance correction purposes or for sports specific movements and avoid them where possible otherwise.

Best advice I can give you though, do a conservative cut to get your bodyfat down, then lean bulk from there.
You'll be much better off that way, otherwise you're doomed to a future of lelnoabs.

My bulk has been mostly clean and considering I started at 147 and haven't gained too much fat I'm happy so far.

I have slacked the last 6 months, but got some progress.
I really need arms and obliques, thats the only complain i have about 5x5 routines, they neglect arms.
heh yeah I feel like I have pretty good tris. I still have some lagging parts, but I'm taking care of em.
Done all sorts of different routines. Last 1.5 years has been two different routines. For one I do ABCxABCx and so on. A - Chest/Tris, B - Back, C - Shoulders + Arm isolation work if I feel like it but I usually don't. For my compound lifts I typically train with a hepburn style rep protocol. 8x3 @ 80% 1RM followed by 3x8 @ 65% 1RM afterwards. Once I get all sets/reps at a given weight I up the weight by 10lbs, and drop down to 8x2 + 3x6, and add 2 reps to each rep scheme until I get to 8x3 + 3x8 again. Cheers m80

189cm weighing in at 100.5kg this morning. Been lifting for about 6 months. Went from 118kg to current weight and recently hit 4/3/2/1.
Stupid question, but should I bulk or continue cutting? I want to hit a 5pl8 deadlift by next June but also not look like shit.

Cut. You bulked like shit. You're at like 20% body fat. 20 lbs is what every chubby person thinks they need to lose. For reals, I'm guessing you need to lose at least 30. I'm 6 ft and 165 with 11% body fat and I feel confident I have a good amount more muscle than you and I'm still gonna lean down to like 8%.

If you aren't gaining weight on 3500 and are that lean, you must be burning fat and building pure muscle at the same time. YEither that or your TDEE is really high and you are making no gains.
Last option is that you're overestimating calories
