Oh,

Hello there, I didn't see you
Please come on in and discuss the glorified hobby that is powerlifting
Many of our users here are capable of out totalling /fraud/ users who inject copious amounts of steroids
We here at PLG are a different breed
We are strong, good looking and natty

So come on in and strength train with us
You can try asking questions pertinent to that of powerlifting however you probably won't get a good answer

That is all

Can't wait to do a meet. Nearest one I can do is a non sanctioned push/pull in February, but I really wanna do a full power meet. Have to decide which is more important, soon or squats.

Will do breh, hope I can hit 250/180/315, realistically I'll probably hit 245/177.5/310-312.5

imo you should just get it out of the way to get what a meet feels like, and to know what rookie mistakes at a meet you need to fix for your next one, then just do the next full power meet after it.

ended up buying sbd wrist wraps too and switched from rippe grip to more standard, narrower thumbs around / wrists cocked back a little grip, felt noticeably better. unsure if I actually am tighter but just felt more natural getting tight that way (before I had to cue pushing the bar down, now I could just.. tighten my back)

unsure if i'll actually use them for bench tho

idk, but I did some thing when I first started lifting where literally every workout I would either PR my squat, bench , or DL, then do 5x5 at a weight that felt hard with accessories for whatever my weak point was. Then I rode that into c6w. so that got me to the weights I was using at the beginning of my first c6w cycle.

c6w is WAYYYY more fun than anything else I've done. I think you'd like it. It is away harder than what we are doing now though. Like sheiko has us squattng like 2x3@80%, while jonnie has you do 4x6@80%. c6w also works at a lot higher weights for the majority, which I think you will like.

people here also circlejerk about the bench programming sucking, but I don't really think it's that bad tBh. If you look at how I did on it, you can see my bench definitely progressed ok through the 5 cycles of it that I did.

No. Both injuries were very lowkey. The fact I was able to squat heavy after the back injury was incurred left me with confidence that it was pretty minor. Just some discomfort. Nothing rest and a lacrosse ball couldn't fix.

The tendinitis has been off and on for a few years now. Typically I just fixed it with rest, this was my first time actually having the knowledge of how to rehab it properly.

I think a Sara Bulk is about the best thing that could happen.

Yeah. Same with squatting and deadlifting with light weights.

Having some weight on the bar can certainly help you stablize it. I'm unsure of how much of this is just in my head. Maybe I just subconsciously take it more seriously once there is weight on the bar.

sheiko senpaitachi, I have some questions

>how hard should the accessory exercises be? It doesn't have any weights listed, it just says what kinds of stuff to be doing.
>how close are your hands for a close grip bench? not sheiko, but still wondering. I put mine about where I have them when I deadlift, but I've been told that that is way too narrow.
>how long of rests are you taking in between sets?
>>
>>35089880
I would just use whatever weight allows me to do the prescribed reps/sets with good form. Boris recommends them so that a lifter squats more upright/avoids squatmorning during back squats so you can do something else if you don't have that kind of problem. There's a number of videos on youtube that teach, more or less, how to front squat properly.
>>

I feels you, man. They don't come up where I live, either, though I could travel a little for it. Where do you live?
>>
>>35089939
According to the forums, about RPE 8 but I go for da pahmp. Pretty much shoulder width (i.e. hand straight out in front of me) or a finger wider. Enough, less on 70s abd 75s, more on 85s.
>>
>>35089939
It should have %'s listed. My accessories are usually heavy enough that i can JUST finish the last set of them. For close grip bench my index fingers are about an inch outwards from the smooth of the bar. Any less than 2 minutes in between working sets on sheiko usually has a detrimental effect to the rest of my workout.
>>
>>35089951
Not sure what to do about the positioning too, will try to cue it a little mentally.

I live in Germany and it's a joke here.

My wrists and fingers hurt if I haven't been front squatting lately, shoulders and elbows are fine though

I dont front squat often but if it's your first time it is likely you lack the wrist flexibility to properly do it.

Just make sure you arent actually holding the bar with your hands.

One thing you can do is rotate your hands as close to 180 degrees as you can and push them down on a bench, putting some of your weight on your wrists.

Do this in between sets.

I don't think you're going at it wrong, but I would say if you can get your hands on a 'hip circle' that would be easier for you.
And if you can get your hands on a hip circle pls send me one.

Squatting wider is probably beneficial, knee valgus or not, especially if you wear flats. I am a lot stronger in a wider stance myself but knee valgus can still occur.

What fixed it for me was this one weird trick your knees don't want you to know!
Actually it's a little more complicated, and will sound like shit but pls try it.

I injured my lower back because I lean a little too far forward when squatting, my back hyper extends slightly I guess(?)
I was watching several form videos and the Chris duffins one mentions sneezing your glutes as if you're going to keep a penny between your glutes.

Well that cue is literal gold dust, you may actually want to slip a penny between your cheeks the first few times trying this because it is hard to adapt to if you haven't done it before. (Maybe you do if so just ignore all this I guess)

I did it and it completely removed my knee valgus by %95, the last %5 was due to me forgetting to squeeze glutes. Having a wider stance and feet pointed slightly more outwards will help you squeeze your cheeks.

Remaining tightness is hard but very important, even at the bottom the squat you want to keep those glutes tight, that's why I am suggesting you place a penny between your ass. If it falls out you're not tight enough.

So not only was my lower back fine after squatting, my knees were better and best of all I've had glute DOMS for the past few days.

Just my 2cenfs, take it as you wish but pls don't say I'm wrong and be hurtful :c

I've got a question about RTS. I'm gonna start the Generalized Intermediate Program but I'm curious about the standard template. There's often a muscle group being sorta worked two days in a row, but it doesn't look like insane volume so I guess it's alright. For example bench on monday and floor presses on tuesday, or main squat thursday and front squats friday. I'm worried that I'll be sore as fuck on tuesdays and fridays and that it'll inhibit my training those days.
Any help on this, or RTS in general?

>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8WI7hO_NTY

Is there any reason for purposefully not touching the ground between sets when deadlifting? I always though it seemed retarded but I imagine it's actually hard as fuck.
>>
>>35091992
I believe you. Plus this'll help my equipped squat, and my equipped squat helps my wide stance squat.
>>
>>35091971
I haven't run it, but here's what I thing: First, it's autoregulated, so I wouldn't worry about being inhibited on Tuedays and Fridays. Second, you don't have competition lifts on those days, so I wouldn't worry about them being too taxing. Last, you shouldn't get sore after a week or two of lifting, m8.
>>
Tried the genie grip during front squats today. My biceps didn't like it at all, but it felt more stable. How can I stop using my biceps in this positioning?
>>
>>35091992
>since my bs is back to normal
So you admit you WERE taking it
>>
>>35091971
this desu >>35092032
You'll be fresh for competion lifts (priority 1 lifts), that's what matters. You have to autoregulate the rest of the work and do it as best as you can, no need to push huge weights on pin squats and such
>>
>>35091971
the whole idea of RPE training is that you fatigue yourself relative to your capacity at any given day. if you squat less weight the second day but the intensity is where it should be relative to your theoretical max your not really inhibiting your progress ( at least according to rts methods). im squatting 4 times a week using autoregulation and it takes some getting used to but you should be fine after the first couple of weeks anyway.

Fuckin back lads.

Just fuckin smashed it. OHP was about as hard as I expected considering it was a 5+ advancement after having taken a week off, but I got the 5 reps. The 5x10 squats were fuckin brutal, but helped me learn some things: When I think I've cheated depth, I've still gone too low; when I go as deep as I think I should, I get buttwink, but the buttwink isn't really all that bad; my back injury, wile still there, feels a million times better after some prehab and some light squats.

Amped for deadlifts tomorrow. So much anxiety about coming back from an injury gone.

Chinups suffered though. Couldn't get eight across.

Oh, and I can't comment on the efficacy of chinups fixing my tendinitis, because the rehab I did (pic related) has completely cleared up the symptoms. It flared up a little today on my last OHP set, but didn't come up at all during squats when it typically is at its worst.

Also, don't fuck around with elbow positioning with more than 185 lbs lads, cause you can lose it off your back and make the old ladies really scared and embarrass yourself if you try to do it with more and have to dump it on the pins.

Why are you doing this 5/3/1 crap again?
>>
>>35092170

I enjoy it the most out of the programs I've tried. I wanted four days a week, simplicity, and constant advancement. I also happen to believe greatly in OHP as an exercise.

And the biggest reason of all? I've seen really really good progress on it.
>>
>>35092200
fair enough. What are your lifts btw? Aren't you fairly weak by /plg/ standards? Is it optimal for you to run such a slow program?
>>
>>35092038

Get your elbows up. Just like in a back squat where we don't support the weight of the bar with our hands, neither should we be doing so with a front squat.
>>
>>35092232
>What are your lifts btw

My last mock meet total is on powerliftinggeneraldotcom, they're not current, but I have a meet coming in January, so I'll update then.

>Aren't you fairly weak by /plg/ standards?

Yes. I'm probably the weakest trip.

> Is it optimal for you to run such a slow program?

Optimal? Probably not. But that's assuming I can apply the same level of drive to a high volume meme-program like Sheiko, which I really doubt I can. I fuckin hate doing a 3x5, so doing Sheiko volume just sounds fucking awful. If my heart's not in it, I'm not going to push as hard.

So from an entirely theoretical standpoint? No, 5/3/1 is not optimal for any powerlifter. That being said, any program that has you enjoy your training the most is the most optimal program for you.
>>
>>35092287
Hey Poutine, how are you running 5/3/1? Doing 3/5/1 and joker sets? I'm considering changing up from TM a bit, and I'd like to wait for the updated version of C6W.
>>
>>35092200
The problem with 5/3/1 for me is the ridiculously low volume, so you'll get frustrated at doing warmup weights and go balls to the wall during supplementary work. But if it works for you, that's super

Tbh it's not that low if you use 5x10 main lifts as accessories on the opposite lift day (5x10 squats on dl days, 5x10 bench on ohp days and the other way around). It's just that sets of 10 are fucking shit imo, and the progression model is slow as fuck, for an early intermediate at least.

>>35092588

>>
>>35092588
TM usually provides just enough volume to allow weekly progression, adding too much could possibly (but not necessarily) lead to accumulating too much fatigue to allow hitting PRs that often. But long term there is no such thing as too much volume. The most important part is consistently increasing the volume, and TM does that pretty well. Until you hit a point where weekly tests of strength become impossible.
